Role Overview

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will provide comprehensive commercial support for high-profile entertainment sector projects, including cinemas and similar venues, from initial planning to project closeout. This role includes cost estimation, contract management, and financial oversight to ensure project goals are met efficiently and sustainably. With a minimum of 10 years’ experience, ideally with exposure to entertainment or cinema project environments, the ideal candidate will be well-versed in managing the entire project lifecycle, working closely with clients, contractors, and cross-functional teams.


Key Responsibilities

Pre-Contract Management:


  • Conduct feasibility studies, concept designs, and detailed cost planning specific to entertainment and cinema projects.
  • Prepare Bills of Quantities, Pre-Tender Estimates, and tender documents, including Instructions to Tender, tender analysis, and recommendations.
  • Lead value engineering exercises, providing expert insight into cost-saving strategies without compromising design or quality.
  • Facilitate tender negotiations and support contract document preparation.
  • Attend and contribute to design and commercial meetings to ensure alignment with both project and client expectations.

Post-Contract Management:


  • Oversee commercial contract administration, including interim and final account assessments and Monthly Cost Reports.
  • Conduct re-measurements, assess payment applications, and manage contract variations and claims within the entertainment project scope.
  • Administer insurances, bonds, and commercial terms, ensuring compliance specific to the unique requirements of entertainment facilities.
  • Participate in regular design and commercial meetings to ensure effective project oversight and adherence to budgetary and contractual obligations.
Requirements
  • Education:


    • Degree (BEng/BSc) in Quantity Surveying or a related field from a recognized university.
    • Professional membership (MRICS) preferred.
  • Experience:


    • Minimum 10 years of quantity surveying experience, with at least 4 years on entertainment, cinema, or comparable projects.
    • Proven skills in cost estimation, contract management, and claims handling for large-scale entertainment or cinema projects.
    • Proficiency in QS software (Cost X or similar) and a solid understanding of project cost control.
  • Technical Skills:


    • Expertise in preparing and analyzing bills of quantities, tender documentation, and detailed cost planning.
    • In-depth understanding of FIDIC contracts and familiarity with commercial requirements in entertainment projects.
    • Strong abilities in financial modeling, claims assessment, and variation management specific to entertainment sector projects.

  • Previous experience working in the Middle East, especially within KSA’s entertainment and hospitality sectors.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, with an ability to communicate technical details to clients and stakeholders.
  • Proven project history with technical writing skills and the ability to provide precise documentation.
