Job Title: Senior Project Engineer Fire Protection

Job Summary:

The Senior Project Engineer in Fire Protection is responsible for leading the design, development, and execution of fire protection engineering projects. The role involves overseeing the design, installation, testing, and maintenance of fire protection systems, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations. The Senior Project Engineer will collaborate with clients, contractors, architects, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality, safe, and efficient fire protection solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Management:

• Lead and manage fire protection engineering projects from inception to completion.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resources.
• Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and project teams to ensure timely and efficient project execution.
• Monitor and manage project risks and issues, proposing solutions as needed.
• Review project deliverables for accuracy, compliance, and quality.

• Oversee the design and implementation of fire protection systems, including sprinkler, suppression, alarm, and detection systems.
• Perform hazard analysis, risk assessments, and system calculations for fire protection designs.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and national fire codes (NFPA, IFC, etc.), building codes, and industry standards.
• Prepare technical specifications, drawings, and system designs, collaborating with other engineering disciplines.

• Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and project team members.
• Review and approve technical designs, reports, and calculations.
• Act as a subject matter expert in fire protection engineering matters for internal and external stakeholders.

• Ensure that fire protection systems meet safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct system inspections and reviews to verify proper installation and functionality.
• Prepare and submit fire protection design and installation documentation for regulatory approvals.

• Interface with clients to understand their needs, provide project updates, and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Attend and contribute to client meetings, ensuring fire protection project requirements are clearly communicated and met.
• Provide cost estimates, technical proposals, and project reports for clients.

• Oversee system testing and commissioning activities to ensure systems operate as intended.
• Supervise on-site fire protection system installations, ensuring compliance with design specifications.
• Ensure proper documentation and certification of completed systems.

• Provide training and mentorship to junior engineers and staff on fire protection systems and best practices.
• Keep up-to-date with industry advancements, standards, and technology developments in fire protection engineering.

Required Qualifications:

• Education:
  Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Masters degree is a plus.
• Experience:
  Minimum 5-8 years of experience in fire protection engineering, including significant project management responsibilities. Extensive hands-on experience with the design, installation, and maintenance of fire protection systems (sprinkler systems, fire alarms, suppression systems, etc.).
• Certifications:
  Professional Engineer (PE) license in Fire Protection or Mechanical Engineering is preferred. Certifications in fire protection (e.g., NFPA, NICET) are advantageous.
• Technical Skills:
  Proficiency in fire protection design software (AutoCAD, Revit, HydraCAD, etc.). Strong knowledge of fire protection codes and standards (NFPA, ICC, IFC). Ability to perform hydraulic calculations and system design analysis.
• Soft Skills:
  Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment:

• This position may involve both office-based and on-site work, depending on project requirements.
• Occasional travel to project sites for inspections, meetings, and system commissioning may be required.
• Site-specific safety protocols and PPE may be necessary when visiting construction sites.
