Context
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Planning Engineer to join our team for the execution and oversight of a major infrastructure project. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of the project's planning and scheduling activities to ensure timely delivery, cost management, and quality control.
As a Senior Planning Engineer, you will play a crucial role in coordinating all project activities, analyzing progress, and ensuring that project milestones are achieved according to the agreed timelines and budget. You will collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including the client, contractors, and internal project teams, to ensure seamless execution of BRT and infrastructure projects.
Missions/Main Duties
- Develop detailed project schedules for all stages of the project, ensuring alignment with contract documents, project goals, and client requirements.
- Maintain and update project schedules regularly, identifying potential delays, risks, and recommending mitigation strategies.
- Track project progress against the baseline schedule, identifying any deviations and providing corrective actions as needed.
- Coordinate with various departments to ensure that necessary resources (labor, materials, equipment) are available as per the project requirements.
- Prepare and present regular reports on project status, including progress reports, critical path analysis, and forecast updates.
- Identify risks associated with project timelines and provide solutions to prevent delays or cost overruns.
- Work closely with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to align on scheduling priorities and constraints.
- Manage the impact of project changes (scope, cost, schedule) and adjust the schedule accordingly.
- Maintain accurate records of all planning documents, including schedules, reports, and meeting minutes.
- Ensure that all planning activities adhere to the clients quality standards, contract specifications, and industry best practices.
Profile/Skills
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. Master's degree or certifications in project management (PMP, Prince2) is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in planning, scheduling, and project controls in large-scale infrastructure projects, with a focus on BRT, public transport systems, or related infrastructure projects highly desirable.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in project scheduling software such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of project controls, scheduling methodologies, and critical path analysis.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with various project stakeholders, including senior management and external clients.Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to identify issues and develop practical solutions to mitigate delays or disruptions.Knowledge of BRT & Infrastructure Projects: Experience in BRT or large-scale infrastructure projects (e.g., roads, bridges, transport networks) is highly desirable.Certifications: Certified Planning Engineer; PMP, Prince2, or similar certifications in project management or planning.Software Proficiency: Knowledge of other software related to planning such as PrimaveraP6.Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to solving challenges.Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.Team player with the ability to work independently as required.SYSTRA is an equal opportunities company; this position is open to all applicants.
