Senior Manager Accounting, Consolidation and Audit

Job Purpose: To lead and manage the accounting, reconciliation and consolidation activities for ACWA Power International (API) and related international Holding Companies, including implementation of accounting policies and systems, directing audits, leading monthly consolidation and closing activities and supervising the accounts payables/receivables/intercompany activities to ensure timely completion of all activities, whilst ensuring accuracy and alignment with accounting principles and frameworks.

Role & Responsibilities:

People Management

  • Manage self and team in line with ACWA Powers people management policies, procedures, processes and practices to ensure adherence and to maximise own and employee contribution to business performance.
  • Oversee the day-to-day work of the team by providing guidance, encouraging teamwork and facilitating related professional work processes in order to achieve high performance standards and ensure that employees activities are performed in a timely, efficient, and effective manner.
  • Direct the execution of all Financial Accounting activities to ensure that all financial transactions are treated in an appropriate manner according to internal and statutory controls, as well as appropriate international standards and financial information is made available in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Control and maintain ACWAs general ledger including control of direct inputs and data transfers from subsidiary ledgers, purchase ledger, sales ledger, payroll, fixed asset register and trade accounts receivable ledger etc., ensuring all accounting and book-keeping functions are properly executed and all financial postings are correctly coded in line with ACWAs established financial and accounting policies and procedures.

Management Accounting

  • Review the consolidated financial reports for the senior management showing the highlights for the months revenues and expenditures, sales to date, collections to date, over dues, total forecasted cost & cost incurred, cash flow forecast, project status, financial issues & variances of budgeted amounts from actual etc. to facilitate decision making.
  • Provide sound advice to the Senior Management Team, based on in depth analysis on externally reported revenue and expenses to facilitate decision making and achieve company's goals.
  • Review the monthly reports submitted by the businesses/projects and ensure the correct accounting treatments are being followed.
  • Propose measures for enhanced utilisation of Oracle ERP system which is in use and bring improvements to HFM (the reporting tool) to improve the value of the system to enhance user experience and system utility for the company.
  • Take ownership and periodically review the ACWA Power ownership chart to reflect the current organisation and update the chart if any changes are made, to ensure up to date information is available when required.
  • Work with the Business Development team to review the bid package and the financial models and sign off on the bid models and SHAs from accounting perspective to ensure the bid is compliant with the accounting standards.
  • Implement approved departmental policies, processes and procedures, and ensure employee adherence so that work is carried out to the required standard.
  • Manage and motivate the team to ensure they contribute to, and participate in, the identification and implementation of change initiatives, programmes and projects in line with the organisations standards.

Frameworks, Boundaries, & Decision Making Authority: Role is expected to oversee and manage the Accounting, Consolidation and Audit section and ensure implementation of all accounting policies and procedures within timelines. Role needs to interact with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of issues and smooth continuity of financial operations.

Qualifications, Experience, & Skills:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or any related field with a qualified accountancy degree (CPA, ACCA, CA).
  • 10-12 years of functional experience, including at least 6 years in positions of progressively increasing managerial responsibilities.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
