Senior Embryologist

Responsible for all embryology procedure, Andrology laboratory procedures, quality control and quality assurance of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) laboratory.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities :

• Responsible for the daily Andrology and Embryology laboratory procedures in the department.
• Receives and processes samples on a daily basis.
• Ensures that the laboratory is clean at all times and checks the equipment for temperature and proper functioning.
• Assists the Laboratory Manager in performance of daily duties.
• Analyse the samples and compute results.
• Prepare dishes for cultures and prepare mediums for cultures.
• Maintain level of gases in equipment for their proper functioning.
• Responsible in preparing Laboratory results for patients.
• Suggest patient for further investigation when required.
• Demonstrate a clear understanding of techniques and Procedures related to sterilization and disinfection of equipment and supplies.
• Perform daily duties of oocyte retrieval, identification, de-coronation, grading, insemination, fertilization check-up, embryo cleavage grading, embryo transfer and cryopreservation, AH, ICSI procedure and embryo biopsy.
• Prepare monthly and yearly statistics for results and report them to In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Laboratory Manager.
• Coordinates with the maintenance engineers for servicing of the laboratory equipment under supervision of laboratory manager.
• Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Assess and validate new methodologies and techniques.
• Assist in training and evaluating junior staff.
• Assess, ensure and follow proper flow, usage consumption of supplies.
• Provide patient and family education as per need.
• Participate in person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG.
• Enrich patient experience with compassion, respect and dignity.

Job Purpose / Objective :

Responsible for all embryology procedure, Andrology laboratory procedures, quality control and quality assurance of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) laboratory.

Education/ Professional Qualification:

• Bachelors of Science
• Medical Laboratory Technology

Experience:

Minimum of at least Four (4) years of experience in special In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) laboratory. Provided that He/she has made independently at least one hundred cycles in his/her unit. If the minimum qualification doesn’t meet then that will be covered by Six (6) years of experience.

Professional Licensing / Certification / Training:

• Certification: Relevant certifications
• Licensing: Saudi Council for Health Specialties and current registration with the designated authority for the profession from the country of origin
