Context

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to oversee the electrical design, installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems within the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project. This role is within the Project Management Consultancy (PMC) scope and will involve ensuring that the electrical components of the project meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and functionality. The Senior Electrical Engineer will collaborate closely with various stakeholders, contractors, and the client to ensure the smooth and successful delivery of the BRT project.

Missions/Main Duties

1. Design and Engineering:
   • Lead and manage the electrical design activities for the BRT infrastructure, including electrical distribution systems, lighting, signage, communication systems, and power supply for stations, depots, and transit routes.
   • Ensure that designs comply with local standards, international codes, and BRT project specifications.
   • Review and approve electrical design documents, drawings, and calculations prepared by contractors and consultants.
   • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (e.g., civil, mechanical) to ensure integrated design solutions.
2. Project Management:
   • Oversee the execution of electrical works by contractors to ensure compliance with technical specifications, safety standards, and project timelines.
   • Conduct regular site visits and inspections to monitor progress and quality of electrical installations.
   • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and project team members.
   • Assist in project planning, budgeting, and scheduling for electrical-related aspects of the BRT project.
   • Prepare and review progress reports, technical proposals, and change orders.
   • Identify potential risks in electrical systems and implement corrective actions to mitigate delays and cost overruns.
3. Stakeholder Coordination:
   • Coordinate with local authorities, utility companies, and other stakeholders to ensure all electrical connections, permissions, and certifications are in place.
   • Support the Project Manager in managing client expectations and maintaining effective communication between the client, contractors, and the project team.
   • Provide technical support and consultation to contractors and project stakeholders during the procurement and construction phases.
4. Quality Assurance & Safety:
   • Ensure that all electrical works are carried out in compliance with safety regulations and industry best practices.
   • Review and ensure the implementation of electrical testing and commissioning plans for all systems, including backup power, lighting, and emergency systems.
   • Conduct electrical system inspections and audits to ensure all installations meet quality standards.
5. Commissioning & Handover:
   • Oversee the testing, commissioning, and handover of electrical systems to the client upon project completion.
   • Ensure that all electrical systems are operational, meet performance requirements, and are ready for public use.

Profile/Skills

1. Education:
   • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
   • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is a plus.
2. Experience:
   • Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 5 years of experience in a senior or lead role for infrastructure or transport-related projects (preferably in BRT, metro, or transit systems).
   • Experience working in PMC roles, overseeing large-scale infrastructure projects from conception to commissioning.
   • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, communication, and signaling systems in public transportation projects.
3. Skills & Competencies:
   • Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards (e.g., IEC, NEC, local regulations).
   • Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP, Revit, etc.).
   • Excellent project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and stakeholder management.
   • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
   • Leadership and mentoring skills, with experience managing teams of engineers and contractors.
   • Ability to solve complex technical problems and propose innovative solutions.
   • Candidates who are native Arabic speakers will be preferred.
