Job Description

The Senior Design Manager will report to the Turner & Townsend Project Director internally and the client representative at a project level and will be based in Riyadh, KSA. He / she will act as the key day to day client interface, ensuring that client objectives are met from a design management perspective.

Key Responsibilities

1. Monitoring preparation of specifications and commenting on same.
2. Chairing and preparation of Design and Design Coordination Meetings including preparation and distribution of minutes and Design Action Register whilst ensuring Design Team respond to meet programme requirements.
3. Ensuring the design team respects Safety in Design and timely preparation of Design Risk Assessments.
4. Working with the designers and supervision consultant to agree the standards required with respect to mock-ups.
5. Working with the Client and designers regarding the selection of materials, which may involve undertaking overseas visits.
6. Initial response to Contractor Notices requesting additional supporting information, as appropriate, prior to the Design Team and Supervision Consultants responses to Contractor Notices, including review and challenge, prior to preparing draft Determination for submission to Employer.
7. Monitoring the performance of the supervision consultant and “design guardians” with respect to quality and timeliness of responding to contractor submittals.
8. Mitigating, monitoring and reporting on design risks throughout the project including status of Authority Approvals.

Qualifications

1. Minimum 15 years Design Management experience.
2. Degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or an equivalent technical qualification.
3. Hospitality, Museum, Complex Structural Assets, Large scale mixed-use development or Construction experience is desired.
4. Exceptional design management skills and associated technical capabilities across all including interior design and shop drawings.
5. Good communicator and Leader; character and attributes to manage signature designers, supervision consultants.
