General Information
You as an Senior SAS Engineer will be part of Schneider Electric Energy business based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. You will be acting as the responsible commissioning engineer overseeing the installation, commissioning, and services of substation automation systems for assignments classified as medium commissioning complexity. Managing completion of all commissioning activities efficiently and cost-effectively and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  1. Technical contribution:
    1. Acting as the lead for commissioning activities on a project.
    2. Ensuring that Schneider Electric is presented as a professional organization in all interactions with the customer.
    3. Interfacing with customers and external providers for approval of plant acceptance criteria, open issues closure and performance tests.
    4. Coordinating site activities focused on finalizing customer acceptance certification.
    5. Representing the commissioning function at project meetings and design review meetings.
    6. Contributing to creation of the project commissioning philosophy.
    7. Managing implementation of the project commissioning philosophy.
    8. Creating standard processes and tools.
    9. Using agreed processes and procedures to ensure that all commissioning activities comply with the required safety regulations and satisfy contractual requirements.
  2. Sales support:
    1. Assisting in preparing proposal or presentation of engineering projects or programs provision of bills of materials, estimated engineering hours, etc.
  3. Contract management:
    1. Supporting contract managers in issuing claims new or change in scope of work, cost impact, time impact, risk quantifications etc.
    2. Providing cost-effective quality solutions as per customer requirement and delivers within budget and contract.
    3. Ensuring adherence to safety standards and mitigation of potential risks.
  4. Planning and control:
    1. Creating work plans and cost estimates in one's area of responsibility.
    2. Reviewing and approving scope, budget and schedule for assignments and ensures quality deliverables on time and within targeted cost.
    3. Improving effectiveness of work plan in collaboration with other functions.
  5. Risk and opportunity management:
    1. Conducting risk and opportunity assessments in real time during the commissioning phase to ensure safe implementation of the commissioning philosophy and identification of potential variation requests to support contract claims.
    2. Reporting any contract or quality or program or cost issues to management along with recommendations for resolution.
  6. Customer:
    1. Interacting with customers, officials, contractors, and others.
    2. Attending project meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignments.
  7. Supply chain management:
    1. Collaborating with the supply chain function to ensure that technical requirements for equipment or services are communicated and agreed to with potential suppliers.
    2. Providing technical evaluation of supplier proposals and accepts as fit for purpose supplied equipment or services.
  8. Technical leadership and knowledge sharing:
    1. Maintaining network of engineering professionals and shares engineering best practice across different projects and disciplines.
  9. Processes and tools:
    1. Developing, selecting, and applying standard techniques, procedures and tools.
    2. Ensuring that engineering activities comply with required safety regulations and contractual requirements.
    3. Reporting processes and tools inefficiencies and suggests ideas for improvements.
  10. People leadership and development:
    1. Coaching, providing support and technical advice to colleagues.
    2. Assigning tasks for and directs engineers, technicians, and administrative staff.
    3. May functionally lead a small team.
  11. Safety and integrity:

Qualifications

  1. A bachelor's degree in engineering.
  2. More than 5 years' experience as a Commissioning Engineer of SAS system and products, EPAS L1/L2 and L3 training/certification.
  3. Experience in execution projects including: EcoSUI EPAS GTW C Different system Architectures – PRP, RSTP.
  4. Knowledge of Substation automation systems and different communication Protocols.
  5. In-depth product knowledge of Schneider Electric and competitors.
  6. Working knowledge & understanding of communication system on various protocols i.e., IEC, IEC, Modbus, DNP3.
  7. Taken large and medium complex project in operation in IEC.
  8. Experience in EPAS design, configuration, and Testing & Commissioning phases.
  9. Proven problem solving & conflict resolution with a sound understanding where escalation is required.
  10. Ability to prioritize and multitask across many projects.
  11. Highly organized and efficient coordination skills.
  12. Knowledge about NG standards communication and presentation skills.
  13. Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
