Job Description
MAIN JOB PURPOSE
Perform routine analytical techniques related to established sample preparation procedures.
REPORTING LINE
Report to the Sample Preparation Shift Supervisor.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the quality and quantity of samples prepared, resulting in an assay paste that is representative of the original sample.
- Understand sample preparation procedures.
- Able to perform these procedures in a safe and diligent manner.
- Day shift maintenance with sample preparation equipment.
- Delivery of quality samples to all sections of the laboratory.
SPECIFIC AUTHORITIES
- Safety
Ensure PPE is worn at all times. - Ensure correct hygiene procedures are followed.
- Ensure that a high standard of housekeeping is maintained.
- Report all accidents and incidents to your supervisor or management.
- Ensure that SGS Q&HSE procedures are implemented and followed.
- Be diligent about safety while working.
- Operational
Actively participate in all shift activities as required by supervisors to ensure that customer processing requirements are met. - Report all necessary maintenance work to be carried out to ensure normal operation.
- Maintain a clean work area and assist in regular cleaning and maintenance work.
- Ensure that all sample preparation procedures are followed as per specified instructions.
- Quality Control
Contribute to maintaining accurate record keeping and control systems for all documents. - Ensure that all non-conformities are recorded, repaired or reported as required.
- Ensure all QC samples are taken according to specifications.
- Administration
Keep management informed of problems within the laboratory. - Advise management if an item is low in stock.
- Participate in training as required.
- Maintain good relations between all client personnel.
- Maintain good relations between all relevant government authorities and community assemblies.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATION
- Education
Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. - Experience
Have at least one year of experience in a similar position. - Skills
Be able to work with little supervision. - Understand sample preparation procedures.
- Able to operate all sample preparation equipment.
