Dream Medical is working side by side with a surgery in Southend on Sea looking for a GP to undertake a permanent role with an esteemed client in Essex.

Job Summary:

1. To be familiar with Good Medical Practice and follow the guidance it contains as directed by the General Medical Council.
2. To work as a member of the multidisciplinary Practice team to provide general medical services. The post holder will manage a busy caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting.
3. To help ensure the Practice provides the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
4. To contribute to the operational and strategic management of the Practice; taking responsibility for leading agreed areas of clinical and corporate performance/service delivery.

Clinical Responsibilities:

The post holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care. The following list is not exhaustive:

1. In accordance with the Practice consulting schedule, the post-holder will make him/herself available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, and dealing with queries.
2. Making professional autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred, admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload from other health care workers.
3. Recording clear and contemporaneous IT based consultation notes to agreed standards.
4. Checking hospital and other correspondences and completing any appropriate action.
5. Checking the results of blood tests, x-rays, etc., and completing any appropriate action.
6. Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).
7. Collecting data for audit purposes.
8. Prescribing in accordance with locally agreed or national guidelines.
9. Making referrals to other health care providers (NHS and private) in line with national and local guidelines and pathways.
10. To deal with Pathology results.
11. Be part of the Extended hours rota, leading sessions as and when rostered to do so.
12. Work collaboratively with other clinicians in the practice e.g. GPs, NPs, Practice nurses, and health care assistants.

The Salary on offer for this position is at the very top end of the scale in the UK at the moment to reflect the flexibility you as a GP will have.
