Safety Specialist

Responsibilities

1. Supporting the Project Safety Manager in the facilitation and co-ordination of safety and environmental activities across the Project in accordance with the requirements of the Project Safety & Environmental Management Plan.
2. Implementation and ongoing maintenance of the Project Product Safety Occurrence Reporting System, including the coordination and administration of the occurrence database.
3. Development and maintenance of the Project Product Safety Occurrence Reporting System process.
4. Co-ordination of the Product Safety Occurrence Reporting System activities across the various teams that make up the Project.
5. Arranging Product Safety Occurrence Reporting System Meetings, ensuring all decisions are documented and a clear auditable trail established for all changes to the Occurrence database.
6. Production and maintenance of Project Occurrence database Reports.
7. Mapping of the Occurrence database into the Project Risk and Opportunity Log.
8. Monitoring the deployment of Product Safety Occurrence Reporting System Meetings/Safety Working Groups across the various teams which make up the Project.
9. Monitoring and reporting on the Safety and Environmental metrics in place to measure the maturity of the Safety & Environmental Management System across the Project.
10. Deputising for the Project Safety Manager as required.
11. Coaching and developing less experienced Product staff.
12. Identification of the Key Stakeholders and forming strong working links with them.

Job Requirements:

1. Typically degree qualified to Honours degree level in a relevant engineering discipline and progressing towards chartered Engineer status.
2. Experience of the development and application of engineering process and functional governance.
3. OR Seven to ten years relevant experience in an engineering role supporting Military aircraft programmes, maintenance, and Project activities in the UK and KSA.
4. Experienced in the use of engineering management tool sets as required.
5. Good understanding of Prime Contracting engineering, the Engineering Lifecycle, and quality standards.
6. Good understanding of functional Safety management processes and duty of care requirements associated with Prime Contracting.
7. Understands the internal and external customer requirements.
8. Understanding of Project management, managing sub-contractors, and procurement.
9. English Language ability to IELTS 6.0 or equivalent achieved within the last 2 years for non-native speakers.
10. Knowledge of SHE requirements & processes.
11. Suitably skilled in the use of general IT software tools.
12. Good Presentation skills and well-developed problem-solving skills.
13. Seek & share good practice & knowledge to continuously improve own practices, sharing knowledge & skills across projects & with functional colleagues.
