Safety Officer

Job Purpose:

The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe workplace by implementing and enforcing safety policies, procedures, and regulations. The role involves conducting risk assessments, safety training, and audits to minimize hazards and ensure compliance with local and international safety standards.

Key Accountabilities:

1. Ensure compliance with company HSE policies, Saudi Labor Law, and international safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001).
2. Conduct regular risk assessments, safety inspections, and hazard analyses to prevent workplace accidents.
3. Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
4. Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and contractors.
5. Conduct toolbox talks and safety inductions for new employees.
6. Promote a safety culture through awareness campaigns and initiatives.
7. Develop, implement, and regularly review emergency response plans.
8. Conduct fire drills, first-aid training, and evacuation exercises.
9. Ensure proper availability and maintenance of emergency equipment like fire extinguishers, PPE, and first-aid kits.
10. Maintain up-to-date records of safety audits, incident reports, and regulatory compliance.
11. Prepare monthly safety performance reports and present findings to management.
12. Ensure proper documentation of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for hazardous materials.
13. Work closely with department heads to integrate safety into daily operations.
14. Recommend improvements to safety policies and procedures.
15. Stay updated on new HSE regulations and industry best practices.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

• Education: Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field (Diploma or Bachelor’s degree).
• Experience: +3 years.
• Professional Skills: Regulatory Compliance, Safety Standards, Risk Assessment, Hazard Analysis, Incident Investigation & Reporting, Training & Program Management.
