Job Title: Quantity Surveyor / Cost Estimator

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor / Cost Estimator to join our team in the civil construction industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the cost estimation and quantity surveying functions, including the preparation of bills of quantities, cost analysis, budgeting, and ensuring financial control of projects. This role is critical in ensuring projects are completed within budget and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation & Analysis:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and overheads.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analysis to determine project viability.
- Quantity Surveying:
- Prepare, monitor, and review bills of quantities for construction projects.
- Measure and value the work completed on-site to ensure accurate billing.
- Perform material take-offs and ensure all quantities are in line with project specifications.
- Budget Management:
- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring all financial targets are met.
- Provide regular updates on costs, identifying variances, and offering solutions to stay within budget.
- Tender Preparation:
- Assist in the preparation and submission of tender documents, including pricing schedules and contract negotiation.
- Contract Management:
- Review and administer contracts, ensuring compliance with legal standards and project requirements.
- Handle claims and variations, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
- Reporting & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of all financial and quantity-related aspects of the project.
- Prepare cost reports, forecasts, and cash flow projections for senior management.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and site teams to monitor progress and provide cost-saving solutions.
- Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to negotiate the best prices and terms.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Cost Estimator in the civil construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, materials, and market trends.
- Proficiency in quantity surveying software and estimation tools (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Excel, CostX).
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with local and international construction laws and standards.
