About the Role:

Develop and implement quality control measures to ensure the quality and safety of grains and their adherence to established standards. Conduct inspections, drive continuous improvement, and collaborate with Clusters and Branch Managers to ensure the grain quality is in adherence to Company standards. Provide comprehensive reports to the Operation Excellence and Support Director regarding quality assurance operations.

Responsibilities

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES

Quality Assurance Standards

  1. Create standard operating procedures (SOPs) for evaporating processes, specifying parameters such as temperature, pressure, and duration. Include protocols for monitoring and controlling environmental conditions within the evaporating facility to prevent contamination and ensure product integrity.
  2. Define protocols for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in silos to prevent mold growth, insect infestation, and other contaminants.
  3. Implement regular inspection routines to identify and address any issues with storage conditions or equipment functionality.
  4. Develop clear and measurable quality criteria for different grades of grain based on factors such as moisture content, foreign material, and nutritional composition. Specify acceptable tolerances and thresholds for each parameter to ensure consistency and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  5. Establish robust documentation practices to record quality control activities, inspection results, and corrective actions taken. Implement regular internal audits and quality reviews to assess compliance with quality management system requirements and identify opportunities for improvement.
  6. Conduct periodic reviews of quality control processes and procedures to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, or areas of non-compliance. Engage cross-functional teams to gather feedback and insights from frontline workers, technical experts, and management stakeholders.

Inspection and Compliance

  1. Develop and maintain detailed inspection checklists for wheat shipments, silos, warehouses, and transportation processes.
  2. Train staff members responsible for conducting inspections to ensure consistency and accuracy in compliance verification.
  3. Implement a system for documenting inspection findings and tracking corrective actions taken.
  4. Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to communicate quality standards and expectations for incoming wheat shipments.
  5. Conduct regular audits of quality assurance processes at branch locations to identify areas for improvement.
  6. Provide ongoing training and support to branch quality assurance units to enhance their understanding of Company quality standards.
  7. Analyze data from inspections and quality assurance activities to identify trends and areas of concern.
  8. Collaborate with the operations team to develop and implement new procedures or technologies aimed at improving quality control measures.

Reporting and Communication

  1. Generate detailed reports on quality control measures to address quality concerns and ensure a proactive approach to maintaining high standards.
  2. Communicate with suppliers to address and rectify any quality issues promptly and avoid risks in the future.
  3. Provide comprehensive reports to the Operation Excellence and Support Director on a regular basis and provide insights to support well-informed decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in food science, agricultural engineering, or a related field is required.
  • 8+ years of extensive experience in quality assurance, food, or agriculture industry, with 3-5 years performing a Manager role.
