Job description

The QS & Contract Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of cost management, contract administration, and compliance within the project lifecycle. The QS & Contract Manager must ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget while adhering to contractual obligations and managing risks.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Management:

  1. Prepare and manage budgets for projects, ensuring accurate cost control.
  2. Conduct cost estimates and cost planning for project phases.
  3. Monitor and manage project costs, reporting any potential overruns to management.
  4. Assess and approve subcontractor invoices and payments.

Contract Administration:

  1. Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements with clients, contractors, and suppliers.
  2. Ensure contracts comply with legal, regulatory, and corporate policies.
  3. Maintain records of all contractual correspondence and documentation.
  4. Manage variations and claims from contractors and suppliers.
  5. Resolve disputes and issues regarding contract terms and conditions.

Risk Management:

  1. Identify and evaluate project risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  2. Monitor risk management efforts throughout the project lifecycle.

Reporting:

  1. Prepare and present regular reports on project financial status, including cost projections, actuals, and variances.
  2. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of project costings, procurement, and contracts.

Team Collaboration:

  1. Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
  2. Provide support and advice to senior management regarding contractual and cost-related matters.

Compliance and Quality Control:

  1. Ensure that all project work complies with company policies, safety regulations, and relevant industry standards.
  2. Conduct audits and assessments of contractor performance and financial status.

Skills

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering or a related field.
  2. Proven experience in quantity surveying, contract management, within the construction industry.
  3. Strong understanding of contract law and commercial management.
  4. Proficiency in project management and cost estimation software.
  5. Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  6. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects.
