Promote safety, environmental and quality awareness throughout the Operations Department. Contributes to the safety and environmental objectives of the department. Participate in the periodical plant safety tours & HAZOP studies.
Implement, follow-up and ensure the safety, quality, and environmental performance related issues of the PP Operations Department as assigned; guide the shift supervisor in critical and emergency situations.
Minimize production down-time by identifying process variations before they can cause major exceptions, with discretion to direct shift team as appropriate in the circumstances.
Provide advice to maximize the efficient utilization of labor on shift by directing shift priorities and recommending tasks as required. Monitor and study deviations on all specific consumption of raw materials & utilities on a daily basis.
Contribute to efficient plant-wide process management by acting as the control central point of communication within the department and between other departments. Ensure that all the shift team follows Standard Operating Procedures by reviewing and updating existing SOPs.
Coordinate and inspect routine and preventive maintenance schedules with the maintenance department. Ensure the maximum availability of operating equipment by isolating and tagging out the process units and equipment to ensure proper maintenance takes place on time. Manage work permits & follow up on maintenance-related activities. Coordinate, control, and follow up on all maintenance activities in the plant.
Update & follow up on all maintenance works and other jobs with all other service departments.
Contribute to the development of the shift team’s process and equipment knowledge by identifying training needs, carrying out training, and ensuring that the skills of the team members are kept up to date.
Analyze and evaluate process data and advise and coordinate appropriate corrective action when necessary; identify and resolve operational, technical, and procedural problems, and communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Identify routine and non-routine operational problems and equipment malfunctions through the interpretation of data provided by the DCS systems.
Prepare clear and concise written reports as requested by the Department Manager. Manage safety-related documents such as firefighting equipment checklist, locked open/locked closed checklist, cap and drains checklist, blind list, etc.
Review and update work instructions, procedures, and other job aids to ensure that they are up-to-date and current.
Education & Experience:
Chemical Engineering Graduate
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar position in the petrochemical, refinery, or any other chemical plant (Preferred experience in Spherizone, Spheripol Technologies)
