Coordinates, monitors, and controls the daily operations of the point of care testing (POCT) performed at ASH including technical aspects, planning, recommending, and implementing policies and procedures consistent with regulatory guidelines and standards of all applicable regulatory agencies. Acts as a lab liaison, facilitating customer support and communications between laboratory and nursing personnel, providing assistance with staff education and training. Performs other quality assurance and technical duties as assigned.

Responsible for the implementation and coordination of Point of Care (POC) testing and facilitating compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Coordinates and supports all point-of-care testing of both moderate and high complexity performed.
Works with the appropriate clinical personnel to maintain compliance of this testing with all relevant regulatory agencies.
Performs all tasks and duties required of medical technologists and possesses their prerequisites as detailed in the job description for medical technologists.
Organizes and manages a POCT program that will meet the needs and expectations of the organization and its customers.
Develops policy and procedure in accordance with specific guidelines, in conjunction with the POCT committee.
Establishes and evaluates the Quality Assurance and Quality Control Program for POCT. All findings and recommendations will be forwarded to nursing units. Necessary action should be taken by nursing units for any Q.C recommendations noted.
Investigates Incident and OVR reports, recommends corrective action, and evaluates its effectiveness.
Assists in ensuring that optimum levels of supplies are available to provide uninterrupted service.
Monitors the utilization of supplies for POCT testing.
Assists in evaluation of methodologies and instruments.
Develops a training protocol and competency program for all personnel involved in POCT.
Participates and contributes to quality improvement activities.
Follows hospital-related policies and procedures.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Develops, coordinates, and follows standard operating policies and procedures to ensure quality assurance for POC testing.
Performs on-site review QC and maintenance logs to assure timely accurate reproducible test results ensuring quality patient care.
Recognizes errors, problems, and utilizes expertise to coordinate problem resolution to end users in a timely manner and provide on-site technical assistance for problems related to QC and instruments performance.
Consistently maintains all records as required by accrediting agencies, which are easily retrieved and available for analysis and review.
Provides evaluation of analytical performances of POCT devices under supervision of nominated consultant.
Facilitates communication between the POCT testing personnel and the clinical laboratory staff.
Participates in the educational endeavors of the institution to meet the current and future needs of the hospital, laboratory, and the university in support of the hospital's mission of patient care.
Participates, as required, in the education, training, and competency training of employees, as established by laboratory policies (e.g., training checklist, competency assessments).
Assures compliance with accreditation requirements for proficiency testing.
Treats patients with compassion and provides person-centered care.
Qualifications:
BSc Degree (or equivalent in country of origin) in Medical Technology, Science, or equivalent acceptable degree.
Must successfully complete the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Health requirements for licensure.
Professional Experience:
At least 2 years experience as a medical technologist.
At least 2 years of POCT experience.
Specialized Skills:
Proficient in using Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheets.
Good command of oral and written English.
Competence:
Knowledge in laboratory services.
Ability to manage internal and external departmental communications.
