Job Description
The Piping & Welding Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all piping and welding work on the NEOM project meets the required quality standards, safety regulations, and technical specifications. This role will involve overseeing the inspection and quality control of piping systems, welds, materials, and workmanship throughout the construction phase, ensuring compliance with international codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Piping and Welding Inspections:
- Conduct visual, non-destructive testing (NDT), and dimensional inspections of piping systems and welded joints.
- Review and approve welding procedures, materials, and qualifications.
- Ensure compliance with ASME, API, AWS, and other applicable codes and standards for piping and welding.
- Monitor the fabrication and installation of piping systems, ensuring adherence to project specifications and quality requirements.
- Perform post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) inspections when necessary.
- Identify and report any defects, non-conformances, or discrepancies in piping systems and welding work.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare and maintain accurate inspection reports, ensuring all relevant documentation (Weld Maps, Inspection Test Plans, etc.) is in order.
- Document non-conformances and assist in corrective actions, including root cause analysis and preventive measures.
- Maintain a thorough log of all inspections, tests, and related activities for traceability.
- Provide daily or weekly reports to the QC Manager or Supervisor on inspection status and any issues encountered.
Quality Control:
- Coordinate with the Quality Control team to ensure materials and welding consumables meet the required specifications.
- Monitor welding processes to ensure that welding techniques, procedures, and equipment are used effectively.
- Verify the qualifications of welding personnel and ensure they are in line with project and industry standards.
- Review material certificates, welding procedure specifications (WPS), and qualifications (WPQ) for compliance.
Qualifications
- BSc in Civil or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
- IRCA Lead Auditor Certificate ISO 9001:2015
- Certified welding inspector certification from a professional recognized organization is an added value.
- At least 7 years' experience in Quality Control Inspection specific to welding & piping
- Non-Metallic pipe experience is highly preferred
- Preferably, to have experience in Gulf Cooperation Countries (GCC)
- Familiar with relevant standards, codes and regulations in pipelines and welding.
- Ability to perform routine inspections on pipelines to identify and assess structural issues of the pipelines.
- Monitoring site installation, repair and maintenance operations.
- Able to document all findings and produce detailed reports including making recommendations.
