Pharmacy Assistant Supervisor

Support the supervisor for all the activities involved in the preparation and dispensing of medicines for the hospitalized patients. He also assumes the Supervisor responsibilities and duties during his absence.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

• Assist supervisor in planning, directing and supervising activities involved in the preparation and dispensing of prescribed medications and other pharmaceutical products.
• Responsible for the availability of medication for in-patient use.
• Coordinate with other HMG hospitals for the exchange of medications.
• Responsible for expired goods.
• Responsible for the proper display and arrangement of the in-patient medications.
• Ensure that the quality of all IV admixtures prepared in the pharmacy meets the required standards.
• Fulfill the requirement pertaining to the dispensing of psychotropic drugs and narcotics as per hospital and government regulations e.g. records keeping.
• Participate in preparation of annual plan for narcotics and psychotropic consumption estimation with the hospital.
• Propose standard operating procedures related to the department in coordination with Division management in line with HMG guideline.
• Oversee the performance of staff, preparing work schedule and monitor workload statistics.
• Train the staff properly to perform their duties to the best standards in in-patient pharmacy practice.
• Actively participate in establishing drug formulary in coordination with other departments.
• Ensure that in-patient pharmacies are well equipped with all the resources needed and well organized to efficiently provide the highest quality.
• Oversee administrative functions in line with project management policies.
• Work extensively with accredited agencies such as CBHAI and JCIA to obtain and maintain accreditations.
• Responsible for development and maintenance of Drug information and consultation center.
• Actively participate in organizing scientific activities e.g. seminars, lectures, trainings, etc.
• Serve HMG in any in-patient pharmacies needed.
• Provide patient and family education as per needs.
• Participate in person-centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG.
• Enrich patient experience with compassion, respect and dignity.
• Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his knowledge, skill and abilities.

Job Purpose / Objective:

Education/ Professional Qualification:

• Bachelor Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
• Master's Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences preferably in Clinical Pharmacy is preferred.

Experience:

• Five years or more experience in similar job responsibilities as stated above.

Professional Licensing / Certification / Training:

• Must be licensable by Ministry of Health.
• Must hold a valid Saudi Council License.
