We have immediate vacant positions for the position "Consultant - Pediatric Emergency Medicine" for a highly reputed & internationally acclaimed Saudi Arabian Government Hospital in MADINAH - Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia.
Job Description: Consultant - Pediatric Emergency Medicine:
- Planning, organizing and directing the operation of the Emergency Department (PC & UCC) to provide efficient Emergency Department (ED) services and meet the patient care and personal needs;
- Maintaining a high level of professional performance in accordance with:
- Professional Medical Ethics,
- Hospital Medical Staff by-laws,
- Standards & laws of the Saudi Ministry of Health and any other applicable regulations.
- Administrative supervision and overseeing implementation of regulations within the department in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Providing effective leadership role model in the department.
- Complies with and actively participates in the ED quality/performance improvement plan using approved measurable performance improvement criteria, indicators and standards.
- He assumes the overall duties and responsibilities for the medical services provided by the ED staff, during his shift and reporting to the ED Chairman.
Principal Duties:
- Assists in the oversight of the daily operation in ED, and the ED (PC & UCC).
- Assists in developing departmental goals and objectives.
- Assists in the design, implementation, reviews and updates of Policies and Procedures for the ED every 2 years.
- Orients and keeps himself updated (initially & periodically after return from annual vacations) regarding the most currently revised hospital and department policies, procedures, standards and rules.
- Orients, advises & updates members/colleagues in the ED regarding the most currently revised hospital and department policies, procedures, standards and regulations.
- Adhere to hospital/department regulations pertaining to essential medical ED Chart documentation, utilization of personal I.D. stamps and hospital electronic medical records applications as designated in current phase.
- Maintains his certification status (BLS, ACLS, ATLS, PALS, NRP and Ultrasound Course) updated as well as maintaining his required CME Credits for the Saudi Council for Health Specializations (SCHS).
- Participates in the implementation of the ED Performance Improvement Plan (PIP); criteria, standards & indicators to evaluate, monitor, and implement changes and re-evaluates changes to improve the quality and appropriateness of practice by the department; in accordance with JCIA standards.
- Assists in making recommendations on the Capital Equipment necessary for the department generally.
- Participates & attends on assigned hospital committees.
- Monitors, interprets and reports concerning utilization & productivity (e.g. Consultations in ED Policy) statistics.
- Assists in delegating appropriate duties & responsibilities to staff within the department commensurate with their education, experience and job description.
- Liaison & coordination on operational issues with the Nursing Division Leadership (DCN, NS & NM).
- Liaison & coordination oversight with Patient Relations Supervisor & Officers on patient complaints, sick leave issuance, medical report issuance & follow-up.
- Assists and leads in training and education of junior staff in maintaining skill levels.
- Assists in conducting annual performance appraisals of ED department staff as requested by ED Chairman.
- Become familiar and competent in understanding his role expectations during Disaster Response (Code Black), participates & leads in the implementation of medical contingency disaster plans for the ED; including medical operations oversight, emergency response and medical evacuation.
- Assists Junior ED Members in the care of patients who require special skills because of the nature of severity of their presenting complaint. Authenticate disposition and plan of management of all patients in the Emergency Department.
- Residency Training Program participation, active participation in training and evaluation within the department.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Chairman, ER and to the Executive Director, Medical Services, Madinah, which are within the post-holder's qualifications and capabilities.
Education & Experience:
Must have a valid MBBS Degree from an accredited Indian University.
Must have a Master's Degree - Emergency Medicine Trained and Board Certified from a reputed University.
Post-graduate qualifications in the specialty, preferably Western Trained or Board certified (CCT or equivalent western qualification).
A minimum of 3 to 5 years of practice in specialty after obtaining the higher degree in a reputed Hospital. Membership, Fellowship and/or Board Certification in respective specialty. Relevant licensure from the country of origin, acceptable to Saudi Commission for Health Specialty and Ministry of Health.
Will have to be Registered in Saudi Council for Health Specializations (SCHS) and obtain license to practice medicine in Saudi Arabia.
Three years' experience post-specialty training.
Ability to proficiently achieve/perform all procedures.
Must comprehend and avoid potential unethical conduct or conflict of interest situations.
Certified Basic Life Support (BLS)

Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)
Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Have a high standard of medical ethics, sense of responsibility as judged by his supervisors and colleagues.
Demonstrates leadership and administrative skills.
Exhibits professionalism & excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Is knowledgeable of the Hospital Medical Staff by-laws.
Skills - Minimum of 3 (three) years clinical experience in recognized hospital/institution.
Language and English Language: Level 1 - Essential
Computer Skills Level II - Essential
