Paramedic Emergency Medical Specialist - Tamheer

Job Summary:

The Paramedic should respond immediately to in-hospital emergency calls to provide basic and advanced life support care to ill and/or injured patients. Transfer patients to different levels of medical care. Perform direct illness/trauma assessment, manage necessary interventions, obtain medical information, and document appropriately. Involve actively in disaster planning and drills and participate in education and training activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assist in major incidents response.
2. Participate in community outreach programs and awareness campaigns as directed by the Chief of Emergency Department.
3. Respond to emergency medical calls and work closely with Emergency Medical Dispatch.
4. Assess environment and general situation risk for the safety of self, patient, and others.
5. Implement infection control practices relevant to the clinical environment.
6. Drive the hospital ambulance when needed for patient external transfers.
7. Immobilize spinal and fracture injuries.
8. Initiate and maintain ongoing management for intravenous infusions.
9. Facilitate patients’ extrication and basic rescue.
10. Comply with the safe-use and readiness guidance of the equipment and ambulance.
11. Manage patients across the lifespan including obstetric emergencies and childbirth.
12. Evaluate patients, conduct triage, and predict differential diagnosis.
13. Develop and implement assessment-based treatment plans for patients.
14. Administer emergency medications relevant to the role of Specialist Paramedic.
15. Determine appropriate medical destination based on patient's health needs and hospital medical resources.
16. Document patients' information, therapeutic procedures, and clinical observations.
17. Provide urgent emergency medical care for conditions including unconsciousness, cardiac arrest, asthma, anaphylaxis, burns, narcotic overdose, chest pain, acute cardiogenic pulmonary edema, hypoglycemia, pain control (using narcotics), seizures, traumatic brain injury, spinal injury, abnormalities of ventilation, neurovascular incidents, and hypovolemia.
18. Assist in patient moving and lifting, including the use of a stretcher and other patient movement devices.
19. Report to the EMS/HEPPU Supervisor.

Education/Licensure:

1. Bachelor’s degree in emergency medical care or a related discipline from an accredited institution – Essential.
2. Basic Life Support (BLS), Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support (PALS) certifications – Preferred.
3. Registration with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties – Essential.
4. Ambulance driving license.
