Operation Manager, Chartering

Role Summary:
A chartering manager is responsible for managing and optimizing the use of vessels and other transportation assets for a NEOM DSV JV. You will collaborate with vendors, internal & external stakeholders, importers, exporters, and governmental/ministry officials to ensure goods are planned and transported in line with country customs and NEOM regulations.

Responsibilities:

1. Vessel Utilization: Ensure the optimal use of vessels or other assets to meet the company's transportation needs.
2. Charter Negotiations: Negotiate charter agreements with service providers, including terms, rates, and conditions.
3. Market Analysis: Monitor and analyze market trends, freight rates, and vessel availability to make informed decisions.
4. Contract Management: Manage contracts and ensure compliance with all terms and conditions.
5. Operational Coordination: Coordinate with operations, logistics, and other departments to ensure smooth execution of charter agreements.
6. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with charters, including legal, financial, and operational risks.
7. Customer Relations: Maintain and develop relationships with clients, owners, and other stakeholders.
8. Budgeting and Reporting: Prepare budgets and financial reports related to chartering activities.
9. Review effectiveness of HSE & Risk Management Plans, ensure they remain visible, and are being adhered to.
10. Review incident or crisis management plans to mitigate gaps.
11. Ensure all owned, chartered, or rented equipment meets or exceeds both regulatory and NEOM Standards.
12. Ensure that all employed (Direct & Indirect), sub-contracted or agency personnel adhere to and uphold all KSA Regulatory and NEOM Standards always including behavior in a safe and ethical manner.
13. Ensure that operations work within the KSA Regulatory and NEOM Framework.
14. Manage assets and available business in such a way as to minimize operational expenses while maximizing equipment utilization and driving profitability.

Educational Qualifications & Certifications:

1. Strong negotiation and communication skills.
2. In-depth knowledge of the shipping industry, Spot market, COA, and Operations.
3. Analytical skills and the ability to interpret market data.
4. Experience in contract management and legal aspects of chartering.
5. Critical thinking skills and the ability to manage complex situations.
6. Familiarity with logistics and supply chain management.
