Operating Room Staff Nurse

As a staff nurse member of the Operating Room, you are expected to fulfil the following roles and responsibilities:

Unit Specific Roles and Responsibilities:

• Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities (Scrub/Circulating Nurse)
• Pre-Operative Patient Assessment for Emergency Surgical Procedure
• Procedural/ Surgical Safety
• Accountability & Recommended Practices for Prevention of Retained Surgical Items
• Patient Positioning in OR
• Skin Preparation of Patient in OR
• Surgical Hand Scrub
• Gowning & Gloving
• Draping for Surgery
• Maintenance of Sterile Field
• Handling & Disposing of Surgical Equipment / Supplies
• Environmental Cleaning in Operating Room
• Assembling of Supplies for Surgical Procedures (case cart system)
• Safe Operation of Surgical Equipment
• Safety, Care and Handling of Electrosurgical Units
• Safety, Care and Handling of OR Laser Equipment
• Safety, Care and Handling of Laparoscopic, Arthroscopic and Endoscopic Equipment (Scopes, Camera Head, Consoles, Gas Insufflators, Light Source)
• Chest Tube Assembly and Management

Unit Specific required licenses:

• Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS)
• Ministry of Health (MOH)

Unit Specific (for new graduates or No previous experience):

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification
