Job Description: Senior Project Manager Offshore Engineering & Procurement Projects
- We are currently seeking a seasoned and highly capable Senior Project Manager with extensive experience in managing engineering and procurement (E&P) projects, specifically within the offshore oil and gas sector.
- The ideal candidate will possess a well-rounded background that includes detailed design experience, a blend of greenfield and brownfield project exposure, and a solid understanding of fabrication and construction processes. This is a leadership role that demands both technical depth and strong commercial insight, along with the ability to perform in high-pressure, dynamic environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end management of engineering and procurement projects, ensuring effective planning, execution, and delivery in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget. This includes coordinating multidisciplinary teams, overseeing design development, procurement activities, and ensuring alignment with client specifications and regulatory requirements.
- The individual will be expected to lead large teams, often in geographically dispersed and culturally diverse environments. They must be comfortable operating across various project phases, including front-end engineering design (FEED), detailed engineering, procurement, and supporting construction and commissioning activities. Experience in both greenfield (new development) and brownfield (modification/upgrade) projects is essential to succeed in this role.
Technical Expertise:
- A deep understanding of offshore project environments is mandatory. The candidate should bring 15 to 20 years of experience specifically in offshore engineering, ideally gained through involvement in major oil and gas infrastructure developments. Familiarity with the challenges and complexities of offshore operations, including safety standards, regulatory compliance, and logistical considerations, is critical.
- Additionally, hands-on experience with detailed design projects is essential, along with working knowledge of fabrication and construction workflows. The ability to interface with fabrication yards, assess constructability during design stages, and support the transition from engineering to execution phases will be a significant asset.
Financial and Commercial Acumen:
- The role requires a strong financial and commercial understanding of project execution. This includes the ability to manage budgets, track project cost performance, support procurement negotiations, and identify commercial risks and opportunities. A strategic mindset with the ability to balance cost control, schedule adherence, and quality delivery is vital.
Leadership and Decision-Making:
- The ideal candidate should be a natural leader, capable of motivating teams, managing conflicts, and maintaining momentum through project challenges. Working in high-stakes environments, the candidate must demonstrate the ability to make critical decisions, often under time pressure, and be able to drive decision-making processes that consider technical, financial, and operational factors.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills are also essential, as the role involves regular coordination with internal teams, clients, vendors, and contractors. The ability to convey complex project information in a clear and concise manner, both in writing and verbally, is key to maintaining alignment across all levels of the project.
- In summary, this role is best suited for a technically strong, commercially aware project leader with a proven history of success in offshore E&P project management, who can drive complex projects to completion with confidence, clarity, and accountability.
