Position Overview
Kilow is seeking a skilled Full Stack Developer with a primary focus on Node.js to help expand and maintain our backend infrastructure, ensuring a secure and efficient connection between our mobile app and backend services. This role requires a deep understanding of both backend and front-end principles, enabling you to deliver full-stack solutions that power Kilow's user experience and provide meaningful health insights.

Key Responsibilities

• Backend Development with Node.js: Build and maintain backend services, including API development and server-side logic, using Node.js and Express.
• Database Management and Optimization: Design and manage database structures, optimize queries, and ensure high performance and scalability.
• Front-End Support: Occasionally assist in developing and maintaining front-end components using JavaScript frameworks such as React, ensuring smooth integration with backend services.
• API Integration and Third-Party Services: Develop and manage API connections to third-party services.
• Data Security and Compliance: Implement secure coding practices, particularly regarding healthcare data compliance (e.g., HIPAA).
• Collaborate on Full-Stack Solutions: Work closely with mobile developers, product managers, and designers to ensure a seamless experience across all parts of the application.
• Optimize Code and Application Performance: Identify performance issues and bottlenecks, making recommendations and adjustments as necessary.

Qualifications

• 2+ Years of Experience in full-stack development, with a primary focus on Node.js for backend development.
• Proficiency in JavaScript and Node.js, along with frameworks such as Express.
• Front-End Skills: Proficient in Next.js and familiar with React, creating responsive, integrated components and optimizing performance for a seamless user experience.
• Experience with Relational Databases: Proficient in PostgreSQL; experience with other SQL databases is a plus.
• API Development and Integration: Strong experience in building and maintaining RESTful and GraphQL APIs, with an understanding of secure API design.
• Understanding of Security Best Practices: Knowledge of secure coding practices, data encryption, and healthcare data compliance.
• Experience with Git and Version Control: Ability to work within a Git-based workflow and collaborate in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Microservices and Serverless Architectures: Knowledge of building and managing microservices or serverless functions is a plus.
• Cloud Deployment Experience: Familiarity with Google Cloud for managing backend services.
• Background in Digital Health or Wellness: Experience with health-related platforms is beneficial but not required.
