Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of neonate in accordance with departmental policies and standards of professional nursing practice.
The NICU nurse uses specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan, provide, and evaluate care appropriate to the neonate's case/families, needs, and problems while complying with high standards.
Renders on-call assignment as required.
Performs nursing interventions for significant changes in the neonate’s condition or when a new treatment is added or discontinued.
Performs her roles in the event of cardio-pulmonary arrest.
Assesses and initiates CPR, if indicated and certified to do so.
Alerts subordinates to summon help and call for Code, if necessary.
Informs the Treating Doctor to assess the patient for emergency management.
Technical Competencies:
Medication administration
Vital signs (Pulse, Temp, Resp., Blood pressure)
Care of baby in incubator
Administration of Surfactant
Admission to NICU
Assist during Neonatal Endotracheal Intubation
Assist with umbilical catheter insertion and care.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor degree in nursing with PRC license.
