AS&H Clifford Chance leads the market on legislative drafting, regulatory and public policy matters. This practice is headed up by Dr. Fahad Abuhimed, the managing partner of AS&H, who was previously a deputy minister in one of the government ministries himself. Therefore, we are well and truly at the forefront of advising Saudi government entities and their consultants and suppliers on strategic mandates to revise and update legislation and benchmark it against legislation around the world. We regularly advise a number of regulators or governmental bodies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on policies, regulations, rules and guidelines.
You will be working in the Public Policy & Regulatory Team alongside counsels and associates, under the leadership of a supportive team. You will work on leading and often landmark projects for top-tier government and institutional clients. The range, calibre, and international scope of the work flow is unique. The role has an emphasis on project management and as well as direct exposure to government and institutional clients, you will have the responsibility of overseeing each project along to its successful conclusion. You will be involved in drafting assessment reports, benchmarking exercises, and gap analysis on behalf of various government ministries and agencies and policy formulation along with drafting the English version of the legislation. A key part of the role is coordinating with other Clifford Chance offices around the network to bring in specialist knowledge, and you are encouraged to build a personal network of specialists that you can draw upon. The variety of work is very broad and can involve truly imaginative ideas and concepts, often looking to examples/precedents of international best practices.
The position would suit an outstanding mid-level qualified lawyer. While experience in governmental affairs, policy formulation, and regulatory experience and/or working with network offices/across borders is required, experience in a specific field of law or sector is not essential. It is essential that you have excellent project management skills and a proven track record in managing projects internally and client relationships.
