Microsoft Fabric Developer
Reports to: Executive Director, Data & Statistics
Role Purpose: We are seeking a Microsoft Fabric Developer to support the Economics, Data and Statistics Department’s data-driven projects by connecting to various data sources, performing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes within the Microsoft Fabric environment, and ensuring seamless data integration for statistical products and visualizations. This role will involve integrating data with Tableau for dashboarding, as well as leveraging R for advanced data processing and analytics.
You will work closely with data engineers, developers, and the Scrum Master to design and implement data pipelines, ensuring the efficient flow of data into both internal and external-facing applications. This role requires a developer with expertise in data connections, transformations, and visualization, along with the ability to contribute to a broad range of project components, including GCP deployment, Tableau connections, and R-based analytics.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES
Planning and Reporting
- Collaborate with data engineers, Tableau developers, and stakeholders to gather requirements for data integration, data visualization, and advanced analytics.
- Provide updates on ETL pipeline development, Tableau integration, and R-based analytics to ensure data flows are optimized and aligned with project timelines.
Design and Development
- Develop and manage ETL pipelines in the Microsoft Fabric environment, connecting to diverse data sources such as SQL databases, APIs, cloud storage, and flat files.
- Maintain the right user access level and tables environment.
- Perform data transformations to prepare raw data for analysis, visualization, and embedding into both Tableau dashboards and internal statistical products.
- Connect data sources to Tableau, ensuring real-time data feeds and visualizations are accurate and performant across both web and mobile platforms.
- Utilize R for advanced data analysis, statistical modeling, and data transformations to ensure high-quality data is delivered for decision-making and reporting.
Testing and Quality Assurance
- Test ETL pipelines and Tableau connections to verify that data flows smoothly and transformations are accurate and efficient.
- Work with QA teams to ensure all data workflows maintain data integrity, security, and performance, especially when visualized through Tableau or processed using R.
- Ensure data consistency across various outputs—whether dashboards, web applications, or internal statistical products.
Cloud Integration and Support
- Support GCP deployment by ensuring data pipelines and Tableau connections are optimized for cloud infrastructure, including efficient data storage and processing.
- Integrate Microsoft Fabric with GCP and Azure, ensuring seamless data transfer and performance across all cloud platforms.
- Optimize data resources, ensuring effective cloud resource use, such as data storage, processing power, and security.
Others
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support both front-end development and data-driven analytics through efficient data access and management.
- Stay updated with new developments in Microsoft Fabric, Tableau, R, and cloud integration technologies to continuously improve project outcomes.
- Document ETL processes, Tableau integrations, and R analytics for future updates, maintenance, and knowledge sharing across teams.
- Contribute to data governance efforts, ensuring data security and privacy measures are applied across all systems and processes.
