The MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of MEP systems in construction projects. The role ensures that all MEP works are carried out in compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and local regulations. The MEP Supervisor manages a team of technicians and ensures that projects are completed on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision and Coordination:
Supervise day-to-day operations of MEP installation and maintenance activities.
Coordinate and communicate effectively with other project teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
Ensure the efficient and timely execution of MEP works, meeting the project deadlines.
Monitor and inspect all installations to ensure compliance with technical specifications and quality standards.
Quality Control and Safety:
Conduct regular site inspections to ensure that all MEP works are performed safely and in compliance with local safety regulations and company policies.
Identify and resolve any issues related to quality or safety.
Ensure all MEP installations meet industry standards and client specifications.
Maintain strict adherence to safety guidelines to minimize accidents and injuries on site.
Project Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of MEP works, including reports on inspections, tests, and commissioning.
Provide regular progress reports to project managers, highlighting any delays or issues that may impact the project timeline.
Ensure that all as-built drawings and technical documents are updated and submitted at project completion.
Team Management:
Supervise and train MEP technicians and subcontractors to ensure high-quality work standards.
Monitor workforce performance, providing guidance and feedback as needed.
Manage work schedules to ensure resources are appropriately allocated, minimizing downtime and delays.
Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:
Identify and resolve technical issues related to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems during installation and testing phases.
Perform troubleshooting and resolve any issues that may arise during the project lifecycle.
Commissioning and Handover:
Oversee the testing, commissioning, and final handover of all MEP systems.
Ensure systems are operating effectively and in accordance with design specifications before handover to the client.
Provide operational training and maintenance guidance to the client's facility management team if required.
Budget and Resource Management:
Assist in managing the MEP portion of the project budget, ensuring that costs are controlled.
Ensure the availability of all necessary materials and resources to meet project requirements.
Monitor and minimize wastage of materials and other resources.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong knowledge of MEP systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) and their installation, maintenance, and commissioning processes.
Familiarity with Saudi building codes and standards.
Proficient in project management and construction planning.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
Proficiency in using construction management software and Microsoft Office suite.
Qualifications & Skills:
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline. Alternatively, a technical diploma with relevant work experience may be considered.
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in MEP supervision, preferably in the construction or building services industry.
Experience in managing large-scale construction or facility management projects in Saudi Arabia or the GCC region is highly desirable.
