Mechanical Section Head

Works under the direction of Maintenance Manager to plan & supervise all preventive and corrective maintenance, monthly/annual outage and overhauling work activities on plant mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities

1. Prepare purchase requisitions for spare parts and consumables ensuring budgetary constraints and arrange strategic spares availability to cope with the maintenance requirements.
2. Acquire considerable knowledge of the process and the relevant systems throughout the plant and apply the same to troubleshoot problems and lead the maintenance team in resolving the issues.
3. Execute work orders through CMMS (SAP) and coordinate with maintenance engineer for job completion and technical matters.
4. Apply mechanical craft, techniques, processes and principles and be responsible for all necessary preparation required to carry out mechanical maintenance to equipment/area assigned to him.
5. Report to his Foreman for spare parts and consumables in his area to update spares availability to cope with the maintenance requirements.
6. Perform routine, corrective and preventive maintenance of plant equipment, repair, lubrication and cleaning of machines and tools, mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems as per the direction of Maintenance Supervisor/Foreman.
7. Ensure Environmental Aspect-Impact and Hazard Risk Assessment are carried out, controlled and updated.
8. Implement, monitor and report IMS objectives, targets and programs.
9. Provide necessary resources for effective implementation and sustenance of IMS.
10. Report IMS performance to the management periodically.
11. Ensure legal compliance with respect to their scope of activities.
12. Ensure identification of root cause for the identified non-conformances/deviations and implement corrective actions/preventive actions.
13. Identify the competency gap for their subordinate personnel and implement necessary actions.
14. Carry out annual performance evaluation of reporting employees.
15. Ensure compliance with legal requirements, contractual and organizational requirements.
16. Provide on-the-job training to new employees and evaluate their OJT performance.
17. Identify, document and control hazards in the assigned work area.
18. Ensure aspects identified are monitored and operational controls are followed.
19. Report deviations in Integrated Management System and identify root cause and implement corrective and preventive actions.
20. Report emergencies, incidents and near misses.
21. Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications

Educational: Bachelor’s engineering degree (B.E) in Mechanical from a four-year college or university.

Minimum Experience: Ten years related experience and training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
