Mechanical Engineer

HCO employs a diverse range of architectural, engineering, planning, and consultancy professionals, allowing them to offer a "one-stop solution" for their clients' project needs throughout the entire lifecycle. HCO works on a wide range of project types, including residential, commercial, industrial, hospitality, retail, and healthcare.

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for conducting detailed assessments and evaluations of mechanical systems in buildings and infrastructure to ensure they meet industry standards, codes, and client requirements. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the functionality, efficiency, and safety of mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection during the design, installation, and maintenance phases of projects. The Mechanical Engineer will also be involved in troubleshooting, system upgrades, and ensuring the sustainability of mechanical solutions throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

1. Ensure compliance with relevant codes, specifications, and procedures for inspections, quality control, and safety related to plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical equipment systems.
2. Verify cooling load calculations manually and using software tools.
3. Select appropriate HVAC equipment, including chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and other related systems.
4. Have a strong understanding of fire protection systems, control systems, Building Management Systems (BMS), and the testing, adjusting, and balancing (TAB) of all mechanical systems.
5. Review shop drawings and provide feedback and necessary recommendations for improvements or changes.
6. Quantify the work completed by the contractor and prepare variation orders or change orders as needed.
7. Ensure that all mechanical systems are functioning efficiently and meet client specifications and requirements.
8. Collaborate with other engineers, architects, and project teams to ensure seamless project execution.

1. A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
2. Preferred experience with working on construction projects, particularly in plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
3. Proficiency in selecting HVAC equipment such as chillers, cooling towers, pumps, etc.
4. Familiarity with codes, standards, and safety regulations related to mechanical engineering systems.
5. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and coordination skills.
6. Strong ability to work independently or within a team environment.
