Job Summary:
The Materials Supervisor will oversee the planning, inventory control & warehouse, storage, production control, and distribution of materials and products according to company needs and customer requirements. Responsible for the entire material flow in and out of the facility.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITY & AUTHORITY:
- Supervise a team of relevant functions.
- Responsible for material flow across facility including receiving, warehousing, flow across work centers, as well as shipping.
- Develop and maintain respective metrics for each function and report progress respectively to the Supply Chain Manager and GSC as needed.
- Responsible for hiring, training, and retaining all planners, buyers, inventory coordinators, shipping/receiving and warehouse personnel and making sure that all company safety and material handling policies are adhered to.
- Address issues when they arise aiming for minimum disruption.
- Prepare and submit status and performance reports.
- Support acquiring and maintaining customers’ qualifications.
- Support acquiring and maintaining certifications such as ISO, API, ASME, etc.
Planning Specific Responsibility:
- Balance load and capacity of the internal manufacturing and external supply chain to ensure cost, quality, and lead time requirements.
- Monitor progress of the orders through the shop floor to ensure they stay on track for on-time delivery.
- Monitor and manage the OES list to account for P&L impact.
- Facilitate the development and execution of the Manufacturing Production plan by working closely with Manufacturing and procurement.
- Coordinate production workflow for one or multiple products.
- Periodically review non-conformances and engineering changes to rework any work orders as required.
- Monitor the execution of exception messages in the ERP.
- Analyze work order variances, document, and action for resolution. Submit approval for work order closure report to QC - Mini MRB team.
- Review reports of Engineering Change Notices and Non-Conformance and adjust plans as necessary to accommodate.
- Perform rough cut capacity planning to facilitate production and planning requirements and optimize workload.
- Create, release, update, and monitor work orders.
Warehouse Specific Responsibility:
- Maintain a high degree of inventory accuracy throughout the entire warehouse department.
- Cycle counting.
- Identify, resolve, and root cause cycle count, inventory, and receiving errors.
- Facilitate inventory initiatives related to physical inventory verification and cycle counting.
- Execute and maintain replenishment system for high running items.
- Issue and receive materials in ERP. Proper material storage.
BEHAVIORAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- BS/BE Degree desired; 7+ years of professional or equivalent experience required.
- Strong technical knowledge of commodities and related procured material.
- Ability to coordinate and execute multiple projects simultaneously with the capacity to work independently.
- Must be adaptable to a changing work environment and competing demands.
- Strong analytical skills, organizational and problem-solving skills, develop understanding of technical documentation and standards - drawings, specs, etc.
- Working knowledge of MS Office and ERP systems; especially proficient in the use of Excel.
- Familiarization with manufacturing and service environment.
- Strong professional relationship building skills, and ability to interface across the entire enterprise (Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, PM&L, Trade Compliance, Accounting, etc.).
- Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
- Excellent communication abilities.
- Experience in an Engineered-to-Order or Make-to-Order manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience with ERP Planning preferred. (Oracle experience preferred but other ERP experience will be considered.)
