Job title: Market Intelligence and Strategy Analyst

Reports to: Head of Strategy & Transformation

Job purpose/Summary:

The Market Intelligence and Strategy Analyst is part of the Strategy & Transformation Team. He/she supports the Head of Strategy and Transformation by providing market intelligence and determining the strategic direction of Derayah. The individual's responsibilities will fall into three categories:

Strategic Management Process

Duties and responsibilities:

As part of strategy development, the individual will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Conduct competitive intelligence which includes the following activities:
    • Collect and analyze official public sources, particularly data and statistics published by the Capital Markets Authority of Saudi Arabia (CMA) and Tadawul.
    • Collect and analyze the financial reports of Capital Markets Institutions.
    • Collect and analyze other published sources (e.g., press, Euromoney, competitor websites).
    • Prepare internal databases and update the databases regularly as new data becomes available.
  • Conduct competitive analysis and benchmarking which includes the following activities:
    • Identify critical performance indicators for Derayah's business lines of local brokerage, international brokerage, and asset management.
    • Benchmark Derayah's performance against domestic competitors and companies in similar businesses in the region and internationally.
    • Prepare internal reports on competitive performance.
  • Conduct customer analysis which includes the following activities:
    • Collect and analyze data on investor demand (retail and institutional).
    • Assist the Marketing department in preparing and reviewing investor surveys.
    • Prepare regular reports on market trends locally, regionally, and internationally.
  • Assist in Strategy Management Process which includes the following activities:
    • Prepare input documents for the strategic planning process (e.g., market trends, macro-economic assumptions, etc.).
    • Assist the divisions in participating in the strategic planning process.
    • Compile outcomes of the strategic planning process.

The Analyst's role is primarily one of supporting professionals in the various divisions of Derayah in preparing their respective business unit strategies using the same methodology and building on the same set of assumptions. The content responsibility of the strategy will remain with the divisions. The Analyst will support the Head of the Unit with creating the corporate strategy and prioritizing the corporate strategy initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Education: University education
  • Skills and abilities: The individual is expected to possess strong skills in:
    • Conceptual and analytical problem-solving
    • Preparing cohesive, polished documents
    • Communication and presentation skills
  • Experience: Ideally, the individual would have worked as an analyst or associate for a strategy consulting firm for 2 to 4 years.
  • Specialized knowledge:
    • Knowledge and perspectives on key technological trends
    • Understanding of the capital markets would be helpful but is not essential
