Job description

Job Purpose:

The Manager - Financial Reporting is responsible for formulating and providing advice on effective implementation of policies, practices and systems in credit, statements, consolidation and financial planning. And to develop and drive the MIS service to enable maximization of funding and learner numbers. To provide leadership and management for the Colleges MIS teams.

Accountabilities:

Strategy Contribution

  • Ensure effective translation of the organizational strategy into operational business plans and monitor the performance of execution to achieve SACCs objectives.
  • Formulate, in cooperation with the CFO, the short- and long-term function strategy ensuring that it is properly executed and updated as required.
  • Ensure proper implementation of the related policies and framework by managing the day-to-day operations of the function, providing guidance, encouraging teamwork, and facilitating the delivery of work processes to achieve high-performance standards.

Budget Management

  • Participate in annual budgeting cycle and process.
  • Manage the department efficiently and within budget, and report accurately on progress made and challenges encountered.

People Management

  • Manage the effective achievement of the function objectives by setting individual objectives, managing performance, and developing and motivating employees to maximize individual and functional performance.
  • Coordinate the activities of the team to ensure that all work is carried out efficiently, in line with the annual business plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work culture within the department.
  • Set clear expectations and provide regular feedback to team members.

Job Specific Accountabilities

  • Develops and/or delivers budget plans for own area with guidance from senior colleagues.
  • Takes responsibility for implementing a team’s formal development framework with guidance from senior colleagues, while informally coaching others throughout the organization in area of expertise.
  • Supports small internal customers to ensure their needs are met and/or helps senior colleagues manage client relationships.
  • Manages a significant portion of the organization’s financial management and/or control processes.
  • Develops and/or delivers a plan for a specific area of responsibility by managing others.
  • Takes responsibility for implementing and coordinating performance management systems for a substantial department within the organization.
  • Develops procedures for area of expertise with guidance from senior colleagues, then monitors implementation of those procedures within the organization.
  • Fully understand, and to keep up to date with, funding and learner eligibility guidance, providing advice to staff and managers on learners eligibility for funding and fee remission.
  • Be accountable for timely and accurate returns to all College funders and other external organizations.
  • Ensure that the MIS teams meet all internal and external requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in finance, business administration, Economics or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 6 - 8 years of experience in the same or similar field.
