This role, Lifting and Rigging/ Spooling Engineer will ideally suit a Mechanical Engineer who can perform load test calculations, conduct/supervise load tests, carry out wire rope inspections/tests, spooling calculations and spooling jobs ( which include changeover of wire rope on cranes, marine winches etc). Previous offshore experience will be preferred.
Ideally should be LOLER certified and certifications in wire rope inspections. This role will also support various operational aspects related to Mob/Demobilization, Maintenance, and Service of Buoyancy/Ballast, Survey, and Marine equipment for our Qatar operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the management of equipment, coordinating activities, preparing purchase orders, generating sales/rental quotations, and overseeing asset management for lifting and spooling equipment.
Operational Support:
- Be responsible for managing day to day lifting operations.
- Develop comprehensive lifting plans in coordination with project requirements and specifications.
- Conduct site assessments to identify potential hazards and determine the most efficient and safe lifting methodologies.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments for lifting activities and implement mitigation measures.
- Select appropriate lifting equipment and ensure its proper use and maintenance.
- Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and lifting teams to coordinate and execute operations safely.
- Plan, organize, supervise, and liaise closely with sub-contractors and operation teams on all ongoing lifting activities.
- Conduct routine checks and inspections of works on site to ensure compliance with authorities and client's requirements.
- Test materials and components used in structures and machinery. Review project safety (eg. lifting plans, etc.),
- Providing technical advice on matters pertaining to lifting operations deviations or non-compliances.
- Promote a continuous improvement culture within the team.
- Perform Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) on materials and components using techniques such as ultrasonic, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, and radiographic testing.
- Evaluate NDT results and provide detailed reports on the integrity of materials.
- Collaborate with inspection teams to ensure compliance with quality standards and project specifications.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree or Technical Graduate.
Proven experience in Lifting operations or related roles within similar industry will be beneficial.
