ES TEACHER JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Elementary Teacher Job Category: Instructional

Department/Group: Elementary Salary Scale: Teacher Scale

Location: Jeddah - KSA Travel Required: No

Position Type: Full Time: 1,200 minutes of instructional time per week (Ex: teach 5, 50-minute classes per day)

Reporting to: ES Principal

Terms of Employment: 190 work days Manages Others: No

Job filled by: Vacation days /year as designed by the board approved calendar

Evaluation: As per the school’s performance and evaluation policy

ROLE OVERVIEW

ES teachers work in collaborative teams and are responsible for providing an engaging, inquiry-based program to scholars. Our teachers create a safe, structured, and joyful learning community that fosters excellence, collaboration, and innovation. Teachers at AISJ are outcome-oriented, hardworking, and receptive to feedback, putting in the time necessary to ensure scholars meet AISJ’s high expectations for learning.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Planning and Preparation for Learning:
    • Plan lessons and units by following the AISJ curriculum framework in collaboration with the other grade level teachers.
    • Support in developing curriculum documentation that reflects horizontal and vertical alignment.
    • Demonstrate planning with consideration of differentiation needs, scholar engagement, and anticipate scholars' misconceptions and confusions.
    • Demonstrate a plan for summative and formative assessments to monitor scholar learning.
    • Demonstrate content knowledge in the areas of reading, writing, math, science, social studies, and social emotional learning.
  2. Classroom Management:
    • Be direct, specific, consistent, and tenacious in communicating and enforcing very high expectations.
    • Show warmth, caring, respect, and fairness for all scholars and build strong relationships.
    • Successfully inculcate class routines up front so that scholars maintain them throughout the year.
    • Get all scholars to be self-disciplined, take responsibility for their actions, and have a strong sense of efficacy.
  3. Delivery of Instruction:
    • Promote scholar-centered learning through highly effective strategies, materials, and groupings to involve and motivate all scholars.
    • Promote inquiry-based and concept-based learning.
    • Support scholars with understanding their strengths and opportunities for development, setting their goals, and action planning.
    • Promote agency among scholars including voice, choice, and ownership.
    • Successfully reach all scholars by skillfully differentiating and scaffolding.
  4. Monitoring Assessment & Follow-up:
    • Frequently check for understanding, adjusting teaching, re-teaching, and following up from the data.
    • Analyze and reflect on collected data to continuously ensure lesson & unit plans are designed to meet scholar needs.
    • Give scholars a well-constructed diagnostic assessment up front, and use the information to fine-tune instruction.
    • Have scholars set ambitious goals, continuously self-assess, give feedback, and take responsibility for improving performance.
