Last Mile Delivery Manager

Manage multiple stakeholders and oversee the final stage of our product distribution process, ensuring efficient and timely delivery of goods to our customers.

Responsibilities

Strategic:

• Develop and implement strategies to optimize last mile delivery operations, including route planning, vehicle scheduling, and delivery network expansion
• Plan and organize the required fleet expansion plans based on demand forecasting and business growth projections
• Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure timely acquisition of vans, trucks, and other vehicles needed for last mile delivery operations
• Implement and leverage technology solutions, such as route optimization software, GPS tracking systems, and mobile applications, to enhance efficiency and visibility within the last mile delivery process
• Assess potential risks in last mile delivery operations and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted delivery processes

Operational:

• Lead and manage a team of last mile delivery drivers, supervisors, and support staff, ensuring adherence to performance metrics, safety protocols, and company policies
• Oversee and manage the truck fleet and driver operations, ensuring optimal utilization, route efficiency, and driver performance
• Efficiently allocate and schedule vans and trucks for different regions based on demand, optimizing resource utilization, and ensuring timely deliveries
• Monitor and adjust schedules as needed to accommodate changes in demand or operational requirements
• Establish and maintain a system for recording fleet performance indicators, such as delivery times, vehicle utilization, and fuel efficiency
• Regularly analyze performance data to identify areas for improvement and take appropriate actions to enhance fleet performance
• Champion a customer-centric approach to last mile delivery, striving to exceed customer expectations through timely and accurate deliveries, proactive communication, and resolution of delivery-related issues
• Collaborate with third-party logistics providers to ensure seamless coordination and execution of last mile delivery activities
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to last mile delivery operations, including vehicle safety regulations, driver licensing, and environmental regulations
• Develop and implement policies and procedures related to fleet management, ensuring compliance with company standards and industry regulations
• Regularly review and update policies and procedures to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost optimization within the last mile delivery network, and lead initiatives to implement changes and drive results

Qualifications

Academic and professional qualifications:

• Bachelors/Masters Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field from a reputable university
• Specialization or relevant coursework in Last Mile Delivery Operations is advantageous

Experience:

• A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management
• At least 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role
• Proven track record of effectively managing last mile delivery operations and optimizing distribution processes for timely and efficient product delivery
