Job Description

Perform routine clinical laboratory tests done in hematology, chemistry, immunohematology, microbiology, immunology and coagulation. He/she will have gained basic laboratory skills required for entry-level positions in these and other emerging laboratory fields, such as molecular diagnostics. Also, perform some responsibilities related to information processing, training and quality control within the laboratory.

Accountabilities

1. Receives blood and body fluid samples at the lab reception and starts the pre-analytical processing of the samples.
2. Performs daily checks on equipment to ensure its safety and correct operability.
3. Performs all analytical processes on the hematology, biochemistry, serology and hormone lab machines.
4. Performs daily quality control tests on reagents.
5. Analyzes blood cells by counting and identifying cells, using microscopic techniques and procedures.
6. Performs microscopic preparation and examination of urine and stools.
7. Maintains laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
8. Conserves laboratory resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
9. Informs medical staff of critical test results.
10. Prepares reports of technological findings by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information.
11. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications.
12. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
13. Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control and hazardous waste policies and procedures.
14. Maintains patient confidence and protects the hospital by keeping information confidential.

The employee's duties are not limited to the above-mentioned accountabilities. The manager can assign other duties based on the business need.

5. Working Hours: 8 net working hours according to shift schedule approved by head of department.

Job Requirement

Education

1. Bachelor's degree in Applied medical science (laboratory section).

Experience

1. 2 years of practical experience following graduation.

Computer Skills

1. Office & Health Information System.

Languages

1. English and Arabic (fluent speaking and writing).
