Job description

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer / Director of Operations

Department: Information Technology

Position Summary:

The IT Manager is responsible for overseeing all technology infrastructure and operations across multiple clinical locations offering radiology, radiotherapy, and laboratory services. This role ensures that IT systems are secure, efficient, compliant with healthcare regulations, and effectively support clinical workflows, patient data management, and operational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Infrastructure Management
    • Maintain and optimize IT infrastructure across all sites (servers, networks, hardware, backup systems).
    • Ensure high availability and performance of critical clinical systems including PACS, RIS, LIS, EMR/EHR, and radiotherapy planning systems.
    • Coordinate setup and support for imaging modalities and lab equipment interfaces.
  2. Cybersecurity & Compliance
    • Implement and monitor data protection measures compliant with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations.
    • Manage firewalls, antivirus software, access controls, and regular security audits.
    • Develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  3. Vendor & System Integration
    • Manage vendor relationships for medical IT systems (PACS, RIS, LIS, etc.).
    • Oversee implementation and integration of software systems with clinical and administrative workflows.
    • Ensure compatibility between imaging systems, lab platforms, and hospital networks.
  4. Support & User Training
    • Provide 2nd/3rd line IT support to staff across all locations, ensuring minimal downtime.
    • Train staff on IT systems usage, security policies, and updates.
    • Document IT procedures, incident logs, and maintenance records.
  5. Strategy & Budgeting
    • Assess future technology needs and recommend upgrades or new systems.
    • Manage IT budgets, procurement, and licensing.
    • Advise leadership on emerging technologies relevant to radiology, oncology, and lab services.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Master's preferred)
  • 5+ years of IT experience in a healthcare setting (radiology, oncology, or lab strongly preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare IT systems (PACS, RIS, HIS, LIS, HL7/DICOM standards)
  • Experience managing multi-site IT environments
  • Excellent understanding of HIPAA, GDPR, and medical data security best practices
  • Strong project management and communication skills

Preferred Certifications:

  • CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or equivalent
  • ITIL or PMP Certification
  • Vendor-specific training (e.g., GE, Siemens, Varian, Epic, Cerner)
