IT Architect SME

Position Objectives:

To design, develop, and oversee the implementation of the institution's IT architecture, ensuring scalability, reliability, and alignment with strategic objectives.

The IT Architect will play a key role in enhancing the educational institution's technology landscape, focusing on systems integration, infrastructure optimization, and technological innovation.

Job Description & Responsibilities:

• Design and maintain the overall IT architecture, including infrastructure, applications, data, and cyber security frameworks.
• Develop and implement technology strategies that align with the institution's goals and future requirements.
• Evaluate current IT systems and architecture of various Portals/Applications and identify areas for improvement or optimization to support academic and administrative needs.
• Design HLD, LLD and Architecture including business/application and database layers, workflow, and integration points, esp. with Enterprise Portal applications or portals related to learning management systems.
• Provide architectural oversight for IT projects, ensuring compliance with best practices, policies, and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Ensure seamless integration of new systems with existing platforms and applications.
• Develop documentation, including system architecture diagrams, design specifications, and operational guidelines.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends to recommend and implement innovative solutions.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to IT teams, ensuring alignment with architectural standards and strategies.
• Monitor and evaluate the performance of IT systems to ensure efficiency, security, and scalability.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A master's degree is an advantage.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an IT Architect or similar role, preferably in the education sector.
• Strong expertise in designing IT architectures, including cloud-based and on-premises environments.
• In-depth knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks and tools (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman).
• Experience with systems integration, data management, and cybersecurity principles.
• Guide and supervise the technical application team and resolve any difficulty.
• Proficiency in IT infrastructure components, including networks, servers, storage, and virtualization.
• Familiarity with educational technologies and learning management systems is a plus related to secure login, stable sessions, online records, downloadable material etc.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with the capacity to work with diverse teams.
• Fluency in Arabic is mandatory, with proficiency in English highly preferred.
