Job description

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to clients under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or physician.
  • Assess clients' health status, perform physical examinations, and monitor vital signs.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and procedures as prescribed and in accordance with established protocols.
  • Assist with activities of daily living, mobility, and personal hygiene as needed.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation of nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members, including registered nurses, physicians, and allied healthcare professionals.
  • Report any changes in clients' condition or significant incidents to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner.

Client Advocacy:

  • Advocate for clients' rights, preferences, and choices in healthcare decision-making.
  • Provide emotional support, education, and resources to clients and their families to promote health and well-being.

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

  • Adhere to regulatory standards, professional practice guidelines, and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and clinical rounds to enhance patient safety and satisfaction.

Professional Development:

  • Maintain competency in nursing practice through ongoing education, training, and professional development activities.
  • Stay updated on relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices in nursing and healthcare delivery.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Registered Nurse (RN) License: Before becoming an ER nurse, you must obtain a valid RN license, which involves completing a nursing program and passing the NCLEX-RN exam.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS): This certification is essential for all healthcare providers and focuses on the skills needed to respond to cardiac emergencies.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS): ACLS certification is crucial for managing patients experiencing cardiac arrest or other life-threatening cardiovascular emergencies. This certification typically needs to be renewed every two years.
