Job description

Job Title: IT Network and IT Support Specialist

Reports To: IT Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and proactive IT Network and IT Support Specialist to join our team. The role involves managing and maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring the seamless operation of network systems, and providing technical support to users. This position plays a critical role in ensuring business continuity and efficient IT operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Network Management:

  1. Install, Configure, and Maintain:
  2. Manage LAN/WAN, VPN, and wireless networks.
  3. Set up and configure routers, switches, firewalls, and other network equipment.
  4. Network Monitoring:

  5. Monitor network performance to identify and resolve issues proactively.
  6. Use network monitoring tools to optimize network efficiency and reduce downtime.
  7. Security:

  8. Implement and monitor network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
  9. Perform regular updates and security patching of network devices.
  10. Troubleshooting:

  11. Diagnose and resolve network-related issues in a timely manner.
  12. Provide network performance reports and recommendations for improvement.

IT Support:

Technical Assistance:

  1. Respond to user requests for IT support via phone, email, or in-person.
  2. Provide troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues.
  3. System Maintenance:

  4. Install and configure computer hardware, operating systems, and software applications.
  5. Perform regular backups and ensure data recovery systems are operational.
  6. User Training:

  7. Train staff on IT best practices, new systems, and tools.
  8. Create and update IT support documentation for user guidance.
  9. Log and track IT issues, ensuring resolution within SLA timelines.
  10. Escalate unresolved issues to higher levels of support or vendors when required.

Key Objectives:

  1. Maintain optimal performance of network systems to minimize downtime.
  2. Ensure timely resolution of IT support tickets to meet user satisfaction.
  3. Proactively implement measures to enhance IT system security and efficiency.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  2. Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in IT network and support roles.
  3. Hands-on experience with networking equipment (Cisco, Fortinet, etc.) and IT support tools.
  4. Technical Skills:
  5. Proficiency in network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and troubleshooting tools.
  6. Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
  7. Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and Office 365.
  8. Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices.
  9. Soft Skills:
  10. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  11. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  12. Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks.

Preferred Skills:

  1. Professional certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or ITIL Foundation.
  2. Experience with enterprise network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG).
  3. Familiarity with IT asset management tools and ITSM systems.
