Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with maintenance and contractor management to review planned activities and identify associated hazards (i.e. noise, temperature extremes, illumination extremes, ionizing or non-ionizing radiation, ergonomics and hazardous materials).
- Anticipate and identify related health hazards of activities, evaluate, monitor those hazards, and present control measures and PPE when required. Recommend and prepare changes to appropriate work procedures to avoid exposure to occupational health hazards.
- Conduct on-spot audits and inspections of activities to identify health hazards and ensure involved personnel adhere to industrial hygiene practices and minimum requirements for protection against associated injuries and illnesses.
- Conduct worksite sampling for exposure levels before confined space entries and recommend corrective measures when required.
- Monitor toxic materials for safe entry and inspection of drums, tanks, and vessels, and recommend protection procedures such as ventilation for anticipated exposures.
- Ensure instruments and auxiliaries utilized by contractors and others are calibrated, and evaluate all instrument technology and recommend appropriate purchases.
- Offer industrial hygiene awareness sessions upon request to prevent occupational illnesses and diseases associated with the work environment.
- Ensure containers of chemicals (inbound and/or outbound) are properly labeled, sealed, and kept in designated locations and under suitable conditions.
- Review material safety data sheets of materials handled and recommend applicable PPE and safety procedures.
- Ensure on-site availability of applicable PPE such as respirators, ear plugs/muffs, safety glasses and goggles, gloves, visors for welders, disposal suits, etc.
- Obtain a list of planned radiographic tests with locations, dates, and times.
- Conduct random audits of radiographic tests to ensure contractor's adherence to radiation protection procedures.
- Participate in the investigation of incidents involving hazardous materials and radioactive sources. Draft proper reports and liaise with company and government authorities as applicable.
Desired Candidate Profile:
Nebosh IGC, 8 Years Experience in maintenance, Shutdown, TA in Oil and Gas industries.
