Oversee and manage crane operations, primarily in ZONE C, D and construction shipyard sites. This involves operating cranes safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulations.
Lead a team of crane operators and other skilled workers. Provide guidance, assign tasks, and ensure work is carried out effectively.
Ensure adherence to safety protocols during crane operations. Conduct safety briefings, monitor work practices, and promptly address any safety concerns.
Supervise the maintenance and repair of cranes. Regularly inspect equipment, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate repairs as needed.
Collaborate with project superintendents, foremen, and other team members. Coordinate crane activities with overall project timelines.
Maintain accurate records related to crane operations, including logbooks, maintenance schedules, and safety reports. Train new crane operators (apprentices) and provide ongoing training to existing team members.
Foster skill development and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Assist as required in specifying new cranes and necessary upgrades, as well as selecting suppliers.
Ensure that OEM requirements and IMI procedures are followed in the relevant area/equipment. Be accountable for the proper setup, positioning, and configuration of cranes according to lift plans.
Lead assigned crew members and contractors to successfully complete the project's lifting and rigging requirements. Assist teams with daily tasks based on operational priorities. Support the line supervisor in planning and maximizing the utilization and performance of department resources.
Review the scope of work for upcoming projects and estimate duration, manpower, and equipment needs for bidding purposes.
Collaborate with the TMS Operational Safety team to ensure compliance with quality and safety norms.
Responsible for implementing Technical Services and Corporate Goals and Objectives for lifting, advise most efficient, cost effective and safe techniques and equipment suitable for accomplishing desired results in given time and budget, while preserving the function of our physical assets throughout their life period and willing to share knowledge.
QUALIFICATIONS
Diploma in technical engineering or equivalent.
Valid crane operator certification and license.
Rigging related qualifications are an advantage.
EXPERIENCE
At least 12-15 years experience of similar role, preferably within shipbuilding or similar industry.
Capable of supervising multi-disciplinary teams, across a broad range of technologies and implementing training programs.
Resilient under stress and capable of managing competing priorities.
Articulate in his speech and excellent interpersonal skills.
Demonstrates ability to listen to the views of others and respond in a logical, well thought out manner without the need to resort to authority.
Computer proficient with strong leadership skills. Supervisory skills, problem solving, etc.
Decision making where required.
Physically fit.
