ASMO aims to be operational in 2025 and provide reliable end-to-end integrated procurement and supply chain services for companies across the industrial, energy, chemical, and petrochemical sectors. Our focus customers in the short term will be Saudi Aramco and its Affiliates. In the long term, all the industrial sectors within Saudi Arabia aim to reach the MENA region.
Objective:
The Safety Specialist plays a pivotal role in ensuring the effective implementation of safety measures and fostering a culture of safety, security, and environmental responsibility within ASMO.
General Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement long-term safety strategies to reduce risks, prevent accidents, and create a culture of safety across all levels of the organization.
- Develop and maintain a risk management strategy to address potential safety hazards within the supply chain.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and propose improvements when necessary.
- Ensure adherence to local, regional, and international safety and environment regulations.
- Maintain knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to supply chain safety.
- Monitor supplier compliance with safety regulations and certifications, conducting regular supplier assessments and audits.
- Ensure the effective application of company safety policies and procedures on a daily basis.
- Provide guidance on how to handle specific safety risks related to work activities (e.g., working with hazardous materials, operating machinery, or working at height).
- Monitor daily activities to ensure that safety measures are being followed, such as proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), correct handling of hazardous substances, and adherence to safety signage and instructions.
- Lead routine safety audits of the work environment, machinery, and equipment to identify safety risks and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Track and document safety inspection results and ensure timely corrective actions are taken where necessary.
- Oversee the reporting and investigation of all safety incidents, accidents, and near misses, ensuring that they are documented in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that emergency response plans and evacuation procedures are well-known to all employees and that drills are conducted regularly.
- Develop and conduct regular safety training sessions for employees, contractors, and new hires to ensure they understand safety procedures and policies.
- Maintain and update safety records, including safety meeting minutes, training logs, incident reports, and risk assessments.
- Continuously monitor the safety performance of the organization, tracking metrics such as incident rates, accident frequency, near misses, and corrective actions taken.
- Foster a safety-conscious work culture by encouraging all employees to be proactive in identifying and reporting hazards.
- Motivate employees to participate in safety programs and activities, such as safety committees, safety suggestion programs, or safety incentive schemes.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees at all levels of the organization. This includes general safety training, specific training for high-risk tasks, and refresher courses.
- Act as a role model for safety, setting an example of proper safety behaviour, such as wearing PPE and following safety procedures.
- Encourage managers and supervisors to be active leaders in promoting safety within their teams, providing them with the tools and knowledge they need to reinforce safety practices.
- Contribute to the identification of opportunities for the continuous improvement of systems, processes, and practices to increase productivity and operational efficiency.
- Implement all relevant Department’s policies, processes, procedures, and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
- Contribute to the preparation of timely and accurate reports to meet departmental requirements, policies, and standards.
Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in health and safety or equivalent.
- Experience in environment, health & safety or quality departments.
- OSH (certified Safety from Saudi Labor), NEBOSH (National Examination Board of Occupational Safety and Health) or relevant certification, is preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written English.
- 7 years’ minimum experience in similar or related field.
- Experience in supply chain, procurement, logistics, or warehousing environments.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards (OSHA, ISO, etc.) relevant to supply chain and procurement operations.
- Proven experience in HSE Specialist.
