Summary
As a Consultant Hematopathologist at King Fahad Military Medical Complex, you will be responsible for diagnosing hematologic disorders, including leukemias, lymphomas, anemias, and coagulation disorders. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure accurate laboratory analysis, guide clinical decision-making, and contribute to research and quality improvement initiatives. Your role will involve advanced diagnostic techniques such as flow cytometry, molecular pathology, and bone marrow interpretation.
Education / Qualifications Required
- Basic medical degree from a recognized institution.
- Post-qualification certification from one of the following:
- USA: The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
- Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (RCPS-C)
- UK & Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register
- Australia & New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)
- Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above
Experience Required
- Minimum 3 years post-board certification for candidates from USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and France (DES).
- Minimum 5 years post-board certification for candidates from Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Austria, Netherlands, Greece, and France (DIS).
License & Certifications
- Current and in Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.
- BLS/ACLS Certification (Basic & Advanced Life Support).
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
- Diagnose and interpret bone marrow biopsies, lymph node biopsies, and peripheral blood smears for hematologic disorders.
- Perform and oversee flow cytometry, cytogenetics, molecular pathology, and coagulation studies for precise disease classification.
- Provide expert consultation to hematologists, oncologists, and other clinicians on complex hematopathology cases.
- Ensure accurate and timely laboratory reporting for optimal patient management.
- Participate in on-call duties for urgent hematologic diagnoses.
Academic & Research Responsibilities
- Train and mentor residents, fellows, and medical students in hematopathology.
- Engage in clinical research and contribute to advancements in diagnostic hematology.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and best practices in hematopathology.
Administrative & Quality Improvement
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, and patient safety protocols.
- Contribute to laboratory quality assurance programs for continuous improvement.
