The location for this role is preferably Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, but can also be based in Dubai, UAE.

Your role:

As Head of Healthcare Communications for Russia and CIS & MEAR, you will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies that align with our company's objectives and support our business goals within the MEAR region. It is crucial that the individual in this role fosters strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external partners, working closely with the Regional Vice President of MEAR, the General Manager of Russia and other General Managers of the region, shaping the company's reputation, and enhancing stakeholder engagement through effective communication initiatives. In addition to the MEAR regional role, the person in this role will lead country communications for Russia and CIS, serving as strategic advisor, overseeing activities for internal and external communications.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Craft compelling and impactful messaging targeted at various stakeholders, including employees, patients, partners, media, and other external audiences.
  2. Evaluate top external communication opportunities in the different countries to increase the reputation and positioning of the company.
  3. Proactively identify communication opportunities, anticipate potential risks or issues, and develop crisis communication plans as needed.
  4. Plan and execute globally aligned strategic communications that measurably increase opportunities for Healthcare. Deliver consistent messaging by leveraging global campaigns and deploying them locally to deliver impact and best utilize resources.
  5. Collaborate with global Therapeutic Areas communications teams and other cross-functional teams, such as Marketing, Human Resources, and Legal, to ensure alignment and consistency of messaging across all communication touchpoints.
  6. Foster and maintain the spirit of collaboration, influencing a team of local communicators, executing global campaigns in the region and countries, ensuring synergies and one-voice approach globally, regionally and locally.
  7. Monitor and analyze communication metrics to measure the effectiveness of communication initiatives, provide insights, and make data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement.
  8. Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive landscape to effectively position the company and adapt communication strategies accordingly.

Who you are:

  1. Master's or Bachelor's degree in public relations, Journalism, Business Administration, International Relations or related field.
  2. 8+ years of relevant media relations/communications experience in multinational corporate and/or leading communications advisory firm(s).
  3. English and Russian fluency in both written and verbal communication. Other language skills will be viewed favorably.
  4. Substantial experience in healthcare communications, pharmaceutical product PR, disease awareness campaigns, including internal & external communications, channel management & digital channel management.
  5. Substantial media relations experience both in general media and healthcare industry media; experience in Rx product launches will be viewed favorably.
  6. Ability to operate in a global and regional environment, translating global communications campaigns into local impactful initiatives.
  7. Rich issues/crisis communication experience in prevention and protection.
  8. Experience in working with senior leaders in an international matrix organization.
  9. Able to manage and lead people with indirect authority.
  10. Proven expertise in writing press releases and reactive statements and preparing media interviews and keynote speeches.
  11. Able to handle several projects simultaneously, adapt quickly to new topics and deliver on tight deadlines.
  12. Strong project management skills, including budget management as well as PR agencies coordination/selection.
  13. Proven ability to develop and execute results-driven communications strategies that are aligned with business goals and objectives.
  14. Demonstrated ability to set and manage priorities, resources, goals, and project initiatives.
  15. Strong tactical and analytical/strategic skills, hands-on, high energy.
  16. Robust business acumen and insight; impact vs. importance focus.
