Job description

MCG Talent are seeking a Government Communications Specialist with expertise in consultancy or government environments; experience in the GCC region is highly preferred. This role involves developing and implementing communication strategies for government entities, managing public affairs, and fostering positive relationships with stakeholders.

Job Description:

  • Develop and execute communication strategies to support government initiatives and policies.
  • Provide strategic counsel to government officials on communication matters, including media relations, crisis communication, and public engagement.
  • Conduct research and analysis to understand public opinion, perceptions, and sentiment towards government initiatives.
  • Draft press releases, speeches, and other communication materials for government officials.
  • Coordinate media relations activities, including press briefings, interviews, and press releases.
  • Monitor media coverage and social media channels to track public sentiment and identify emerging issues.
  • Organize public events, town hall meetings, and community outreach programs to engage with citizens and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and consistency in messaging.
  • Manage communication projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, or related field.
  • Proven experience (10+ years) in government communications, consultancy, or a government department/party/agency.
  • Knowledge of government structures, policies, and procedures, with experience working in or with government entities.
  • Familiarity with the GCC region and understanding of cultural sensitivities and political dynamics.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with government officials, stakeholders, and the media.
  • Proficiency in media monitoring tools, social media platforms, and communication software.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on achieving communication objectives.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in Arabic or other languages is a plus.
