Role
As Freight Forwarder, you will be responsible for coordinating and executing freight operations by expediting shipments and ensuring efficient and timely movement of goods by collaborating with carriers, administering all necessary documentation, and communicating with carriers, overseas agents, and co-workers to secure the best possible competitive rates. You will lead a determined negotiation process with current and potential clients in the best interest of DSV.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage freight shipments from origin to destination, ensuring adherence to timelines and customer requirements.
- Liaise with airlines, freight forwarders, and ground handling agents to arrange bookings and schedule shipments effectively.
- Prepare and process necessary documentation, including airway bills, invoices, customs documentation, and other required paperwork.
- Ensure compliance with international freight regulations, customs laws, and security protocols.
- Monitor and track shipment status, providing timely updates to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Address and resolve any issues or delays in the transportation process, working proactively to find solutions.
- Update the tracking sheet with freight status and send to the customer on a daily basis.
- Negotiate cost-effective rates with service providers to ensure maximum profitability.
- Coordinate with airlines, shippers, and local and overseas DSV offices for the quoting process of shipments.
- Maintain continuous communication with vendors, shippers, carriers, and DSV overseas offices throughout the quotation process and choose proper routing appropriate to the customer's needs.
- Immediately report problems, operational disputes, or discrepancies to supervisor, manager, or department head.
- Follow up to ensure the freight is cleared and delivered to the customer on time, updating systems accordingly.
- Negotiate and coordinate spot rates and/or quotations for shipments/services within our client’s database.
- Communicate with management on pricing performance and work closely with the operations and accounting team.
- Data entry in Cargo Wise 1 system as required.
Educational Qualifications & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Economics, Logistics, or freight forwarding.
- A minimum of 5 years work experience within the Freight Forwarding industry.
- International working experience preferred.
- Proficiency in using freight management systems, tracking software, and MS Office applications (CargoWise 1).
- Knowledge of international air cargo regulations, customs procedures, and trade compliance standards.
