Job description

Stake is the MENA region's most exciting real estate fintech company, combining real estate expertise and innovative financial technology to deliver products that empower everyone to own and build wealth through Real Estate. Launched in 2021, we have grown rapidly, leveraging decades of experience in technology, financial services, and global real estate, to launch the MENA region's first mobile app for fractional real estate investing.

This is just the beginning, and we're currently searching for highly talented individuals to join and help lead our expansion into international markets and new business lines.

The Finance Team

Who we are:

Navigating the Numbers: Our Finance team dives deep into data, strategizing every dollar to fuel growth and maximize our returns.

We are looking for a finance and accounting professional who is nimble and can be both a great individual contributor and build teams to ensure our finance operations hum along seamlessly as the business grows and gets more complex.

What you'll do:

As Finance Manager, you'll collaborate closely with the executive team for swift deal execution, establish processes/systems for financial transaction management, and brainstorm with tech/product teams for financial operation automation. Expect a dynamic role blending analysis, execution, planning, and innovation. Some days involve reconciling transactions, optimizing costs/cash flows, and strategizing for operational excellence. This hands-on role demands adaptability and resourcefulness, especially given regulatory scrutiny from the CMA. You'll become our authorized Finance Officer/Bookkeeper, ensuring compliance with all regulatory financial standards.

The Finance Manager will spend most of their time:

  1. Ensuring the client money and fund accounts and transactions always reconcile.
  2. Developing and monitoring OKRs that allow Stake to track and improve the financial health of the funds and the company as a whole.
  3. Developing and producing periodic financial statements for each of Stake's entities including holding companies, property SPVs (funds), and others as required by the business.
  4. Managing the financing and cash flow cycles for each of the funds (invoicing, collection, reporting).
  5. Setting up payment templates in our online banking apps, arranging for any necessary cheques, and all bank account management related logistics.
  6. Working with the executive team on financial reporting at the company level (Stake), which includes operational financing in addition to the above-mentioned fund financing, and constantly uncovering ways to optimize the financial health of the company.
  7. Meeting all regulatory requirements including:
  • Maintenance of the accounting policy and procedure manual.
  • Monthly review and evaluation of entire bookkeeping schedules ensuring they comply with professional standards, IFRS, and the firm policies.
  • Ensuring compliance with established internal control procedures by examining all financial records, reports, operating practices, and documentation.
  • Verifying assets and liabilities by comparing items to documentation.
  • Preparing the balance sheet substantiations for all accounts.
  • Critical review of findings or significant areas in the financial reports, being responsible for all accounting principles, auditing standards, accounting standards, tax regulations, and firm's policies.
  • Managing Client Money Accounts according to the Client Money rules.
  • Assisting and supporting internal and external auditors with all reports and info requirements.
  • Going beyond execution of the finance operations into building and documenting processes that ensure the buildup of internal intellectual capital and the dissipation of knowledge across the organization.
  • Ideating methods and frameworks in which the finance function can scale beyond the current product offering (single property funds) and into more complex product offerings, like portfolio funds, debt funds, etc.
  • Preparing and executing the payroll process for KSA employees.
  • What we're looking for:

    • 4-5 years experience in a finance role, such as an investment bank, asset management firm, or other regulated financial institution, or in audit at a Big 4.
    • Expert knowledge of accounting processes, policies, and applicable IFRS and IAS rules.
    • Experience as a CMA-authorized Finance Officer or in a real estate specific function is a big plus.
    • Familiarity with CMA regulatory laws and framework relating to CAT 3A, 3C, and 4 entities.
    • Familiarity with corporate laws.
    • Experience in financial budgeting, control, and management.
    • Technical background and high attention to detail are a must.
    • CA, CPA, and/or CFA qualification is required.
    • Experience in fund accounting and determination of NAVs is a plus.
    • Experience in overhead control management, preparation, and implementation of Internal Control framework is a must.
    • Ability to liaise with regulators, auditors, and legal experts on matters relating to finance, accounts, compliance, and audit.
    • Experience with VAT registration and submissions is a big plus.
    • Excellent command of Office and/or GSuite tools.
    • Good understanding of fintech, investment industry, financial markets, and global economics is a plus.
    • We are an investment company, but technology is at the heart of everything we do; the candidate must demonstrate the ability, through experience, of being able to gain command of new tools and technologies very quickly. The candidate will have to use a broad range of complex systems daily to gather the data needed for the role.
    • Demonstrated ability to work with large volumes of data.
    • Experience in building or working with complex financial models.
    • The ability to simplify down complex problems/findings and articulate them in writing is an absolute must.

    Why you should join Stake:

    • Hybrid work environment.
    • Work directly with senior leadership in one of the region's fastest growing start-ups; you will get exposure to all functions at Stake and have the chance to learn from the very best in the space!
    • Generous equity compensation; this aims to bring a high degree of ownership into your work. As Stake grows, you grow with it!
    • Budget for learning and development; we want Stakers to constantly strive for personal and professional growth.
